About the Highlands Inn A Park Hyatt Hotel

Imagine a room by the ocean, wood burning fireplace, and jacuzzi tub all in the same place, the Highlands Inn makes that a reality. This hotel was built in 1916 and sits in a pine forest at the gateway to Big Sur. Many Celebrities have stayed here including John Travolta, Tony Bennet and Oprah Winfrey. In the lounge you will find one of the most breath taking views and you can soak in the jazz while looking down on the ocean. In the atrium-style lobby you will find polished wooden columns and dark blue glass. But the real ambiance of this hotel lies in the guest rooms. Both of the restaurants offer wonderful food and service and their food and wine lists are second to none, not to mention the fact that you are literally floating on the pacific ocean.The staff treats all their guests like celebrities.

Highlands Inn A Park Hyatt Hotel Accommodations

You have a few choices when staying at the Highlands Inn. You can opt for a 2 room townhome or a regular hotel style room in which you have the choice of ocean or non ocean view. The town homes are a bit more in price but well worth the money spent. All rooms come equipped with a fireplace (wood is provided) and a jacuzzi tub for 4. These rooms are designed for all the comforts from the down comforters and pillowtop mattresses to the marble bathrooms and designer toiletries.

The Amenities at this hotel are just what you would expect to find at a 5 star hotel. Air conditioning, telephone, cable television, voicemail make this hotel feel like home. The fully functional kitchenette, Microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, refridgerator and hairdryer give you all the conveniences of being at home. The hot tub, fireplace, and terrace give you the feel of being at a 5 star resort. If that's not enough for you there is also an on site health spa and message therapist, jogging track, outdoor pool and hot tub, and biking trail with bikes for rent.

Travelling from the north (San Francisco & San Jose): Take Highway 101 South through Gilroy to Prunedale. Proceed to Highway 156 West to the Monterey Peninsula. Highway 156 turns into Highway 1. Go south to Monterey/Carmel. Highway 1 will change from a freeway to a road with four traffic lights. After the fourth traffic light at Rio Road, continue south on Highway 1 toward Big Sur for three miles to the Carmel Highlands. Look for the sign to Highlands Drive with arrow pointed to the left and proceed to hotel entrance on the right.
