Arkansas State Guide

Green valleys and grand mountains set the stage for the beauty in Arkansas. There are three National Forests and a wealth of parks for you to explore. Small wonder why it is affectionately called the Natural State.

The Ozark National Forest spreads across an impressive 1.2 million acres and includes the amazing Blanchard Springs Caverns. The Ozark Highlands Trail is ideal for those who love the outdoors. Its 165 miles of trail makes it the longest in the forest. Prefer to have someone do the walking for you? There’s a wonderful horse trail, called the Sylamore Trail, that’s about 80 miles long. The waterfalls, trees and flora you’ll see along the way are truly breathtaking. Still not enough nature for you? Head over to the Hot Springs National Park and enjoy the many hiking trails available for you to explore.

Map of Arkansas

For those who know what the term spelunking means, you’ll find Arkansas to have a great selection of caves. One worth mentioning is the amazing Blanchard Springs Caverns. Keep your eyes open for the Giant Column. Although the name isn’t too creative, the column stands at an impressive seventy feet. Anglers from across the nation also know Arkansas to be a great place to drop in a line. There are also many fantastic fishing derbies held across the state.

Arkansas’ state gem is the diamond and thus, it’s a great place to do some jewelry shopping. The fertile land is also ideal for growing grapes. The Tontitown annual Grape Festival held in the fall is a perfect place to try out a few glasses of delicious Arkansas wine. Talk about a great place to visit – diamonds and wine all in the same state.

Many of the cities and towns throughout Arkansas showcase beautiful Victorian architecture. Enjoy a tour of President Bill Clinton’s childhood home in the town of Hope. If you’re a big Clinton fan you could also visit the Clinton Presidential Library, which is located near Little Rock. Need a bit more adventure? Southland Greyhound Park, located in West Memphis, is one of the top dog racing tracks in the world.

Diamonds and wine, hiking trails and fishing, spelunking and dog racing... There’s not a whole lot more Arkansas can offer. With everything that’s here, it is quite simply a fantastic state to explore.
