Excellent historic charm and superb and efficient staff. Incredibly friendly and helpful. Lots of character and well located in the heart of downtown Birmingham. Also, located on their trolley-bus route, which costs only 25 cents to take a one way ride to 5 points where there are more shops/restaurants and nightlife.

I loved everything about this hotel. It was stylist and with lots of character. It had historic charm and amenities. Best hotel staff I've encountered.

Terrible wine selection at the bar.

If you are staying in downtown Birmingham, I'd suggest this hotel not for the ammenities but for the "feel." However, hopefully they'll have a new desk staff.

Great location and historic feel.

The clerk was extremely rude and unhelpful. I stayed there a year before and didn't have this problem.

The hotel was very nice they have restored it to its former glory. It was like steeping back in time . The staff was very nice and made our stay there very good. We would stay there again if the need arose.

It was very nice and clean .It was built in the early 1900 they had very nice clean rooms. I would recommend it to anyone tnx for your help with find it.

Not in the best part of town but we felt safe there.

If you want a taste of southern hospitality and a hint of the past grandeur of the Ole South, The Tutwiler is a great place to stay in downtown Birmingham. Although most guests appear to be business men and women, there are often weddings in the lovely courtyard followed by elegant receptions for as many as 200 guests. Its also the best place to stay if you plan to attend the annual City Stages world-renowned music festival in June; right across the street from Linn Park and all the action. However, plan ahead. Area reservations are booked up months in advance.
