Value and location are the key benefits of the 198-room Royal Princess Chiangmai, perfectly positioned if you want to be downtown close to the famed night market. The 10-story hotel is just three kilometers from the train station and seven kilometers from the international airport. All the facilities of a four star hotel are here but some of the fittings and fixtures are in need of an upgrade. Friendly and attentive staff, choice of dining spots, massage center open from 11 am to midnight and good Internet connection throughout the property are plus points.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
Good: Right downtown near the famed night market and reasonably priced. Not so good: Some of the rooms and the swimming pool don’t warrant the four star rating. Read our customer reviews?
There are five categories of accommodation ranging from superior rooms to two bedroom suites. It may be worth paying a little more to get better quality – particularly when it comes to the bathrooms.
Three restaurants - Jasmine, serving Cantonese cuisine, Miyuki, offering Japanese specialties, and the Garden Café, with Thai and international dishes – are reasonably priced. The swimming pool is a disappointment. A helpful tour desk can arrange everything from tours to the Golden Triangle to inexpensive airport transfers. Room service is available 24 hours a day and there is an acceptable fitness center. The Lobby Bar is a good place for a drink or a snack after you’ve walked your way through the night market.
