Cheap, cheerful and clean earns this 200-room establishment which is in the inner city of old Bangkok a C rating. If you are a tourist on a budget, or a businessman spending your own money, this may be the place for to stay. Plus factor is you can walk to many of the city’s major sites including the fascinating Chao Phraya River – a claim that some luxury city hotels can’t make. The Grand Palace, the Emerald Buddha, National Museum and the National Theatre are all within easy reach, thus saving money on taxis or on the city’s cheap transportation – the tuk-tuk.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
Yes, if you accept that the word luxury appears nowhere on their promotional pieces. If you walk in off the street looking for a room do not accept the first price given. This is where you bargain, just like you do at the street markets. No, if you want the bells and whistles that you pay for in the better Bangkok hotels.

You have a choice of rooms – suites, triples, double or singles – all come with cable T.V., minibar and breakfast is included. Plus item here is that rates are all net and don’t have those + + signs you get at the better places. The + + signs, in case you didn’t know stand for plus tax and plus service. Some rooms are in better shape than others and it may be worth asking if you can see the room before you start unpacking.
Amenities are somewhat limited. There is a non-award winning outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant, six banquet rooms, convention and seminar rooms which can accommodate from 10 to 400 people. If handled politely the front office staff can be extremely helpful in helping you find your way around.
