We have stayed at this hotel exclusively when in Bangkok. The staff is terrific - the service exceptional. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

The Pninsula Hotel in Bangkok is the Best hotel I have ever stayed at, it makes the Ritz-Carlton seem like a motel-8, and the best thing about them are the employees

The best service ever. Location and the rooms are great. You don't want to leave the hotel.
Getting complacent - posted on 08/29/2005
Some people call this the best hotel in Asia but I must take issue with that. It's a nice place and the standard rooms are large with big bathrooms, but for the price you pay you could get a larger suite at many of the great hotels in Bangkok. Food was disappointing, not bad just not great. Nice controls near the bed for lighting, temp, and my fave a "do not call" feature. Some staff had weak English. Not Bangkok's best hotel.
Great hotel, bad location - posted on 08/07/2005
AFter 17 hour flight, the Peninsula offered a restful, beautiful respite with its luxurious room, great pool with individual salas for relaxing and wonderful service. Gym was bad, very small, and spa was virtually non-existent, though massage was very cheap. Food was incredible in every restaurant and breakfast. Must take boat across river to Skytrain and town, but that is no big problem. I would stay elsewhere next time, didn't like having to take boat.

Exceptional service! Mercedes S-class from airport, formal greeting by staff entourage, in room check-in. Excellent riverside location. Superb dining. High Tea in the lobby very elegant and relaxing. Peninsula Bangkok defines 5-star.

Of course it is great! Fabulous hotel and they have a very convient free shuttle boat across to where all the shopping, sights are. Incredible FOOD! My only complaint is that the Boat Shuttle crew hustles you to. They ask where you are going and then set up a long shaft boat for you. WHat they do not tell you is that it is twice as much as it should be. We found this out when we started to arrange these boats on our own. Obviously they get a cut! Of Course everyone in Thailand seems to be looking for a way to make money from you!
