Bangkok Hotel Guide Cheap Bangkok Hotels

Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the busiest cities in the world. Although it continues to strive to be as modern as its neighbors, it’s still maintained its ancient history. The hot, humid weather welcomes you as you explore the city by foot, car or boat. Whatever you want to see and however you get there is up to you. You’ll truly enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells which make Thailand a great place to explore.

Where to begin? The Rose Garden is a popular tourist attraction because of the immaculate grounds as well as the Thai Cultural Village. Here you’ll find exhibits on Thai folk dancing, Thai boxing and an elephant show.

One of the most interesting places to visit is the Grand Palace. Its exterior glistens in the sun and you get to view the amazing details up close and personal. There are buildings within the palace grounds that include Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) and a royal chapel. The Wat Phra Kaeo houses a small, beautiful Emerald Buddha, dating back to the 14th century. Its important to note that when you’re visiting the temples, certain museums and the Grand Palace a dress code is in effect. Shorts, spaghetti straps and open backed sandals are not acceptable.

Explore the many klongs (canals) around the city. The Chao Phraya River winds throughout, providing transport for passengers and cargo. You’ll typically find many large outdoor markets along the sides. If you’d prefer a more modern approach there are great malls for you to shop in as well. But to get a true Thai shopping experience you should really go to the markets. The best-known market is the one held at Chatuchak. The vendors sell everything from clothing to artwork, live animals to books. Another great shopping adventure can be found at the famous floating market at Damnoen Saduak. The klongs are filled with small boats overflowing with great finds. Make sure you have enough Baht on hand.

And when you need to rest, Bangkok is well known for its luxury hotels and amazing spas. The sites and sounds will overwhelm you as you explore this fascinating city. The balance between old and new has been gracefully kept in tact and you’ll truly enjoy exploring this fascinating city.
