Auckland Hotel Guide Cheap Auckland Hotels

Auckland

Although Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city it continues to maintain its ‘beachy’ charm. It would be difficult not to due to the surrounding waters, harbors, islands and beaches as well as the mountain ranges and volcanoes. Plus, the sun seems to always shine here. Affectionately known as ‘The City of Sails’ Auckland is also filled with adventure and great sites. Deciding to come won’t be the hard part but choosing your departure date just might become a problem.

This New Zealand city is situated across a dormant volcanic field and thus there are numerous volcanoes. No worries though, they have been classified as extinct. These peaks do make for some stunning scenery including lakes, islands and lagoons. One of its most famous is Rangitoto Island. Definitely the largest, it can be seen at almost any point in the city. Interestingly enough it doesn’t have a lot of nature or wildlife due to its acidic soil. Nevertheless, it is a permanent fixture of the Auckland horizon.

Other famous sites include the impressive Harbour Bridge and the Sky Tower. The later is considered the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest freestanding building. What would you do here? Why, jump off of it. This jump is a completely different experience from bungee jumping because you don’t actually go headfirst or get thrown back up. You kind of slip down… super fast. Truly fantastic. Those looking at a different kind of thrill will love the Sylvia Park shopping complex. Be prepared for a lot of retail therapy. Speaking of parks, the Auckland Domain is a beautiful park with great views of Rangitoto Island. Those interested in sports will enjoy the rugby and cricket matches and Eden Park is one of the more popular grounds to watch these events. The kids, and adults too, will love the Auckland Zoo.

Its location and history have created a cuisine that is unique and flavorful. Taking what nature provides and using chic cooking techniques your meals will be far more than food for your belly. They are an experience that is worth every bite. Ponsonby Road is a great place to wander around as you explore the galleries and sip on a local cup of java. Couple all this with fantastic attractions and beautiful scenery, leaving to go back home just might prove to be a tad difficult. But hey, we did warn you.
