This 406-room property is in a wonderful location fronting the Straits of Johor at the centre of this southern-most Malaysian city. Hyatt Regency Johor Bahru is near the Sultan's Palace, 10 minutes from downtown and just 30 minutes across the causeway to downtown Singapore. But this is an occasion when location isnt enough. It seems this once glamorous property has passed its sell-by-date and is need of some upgrading and refurbishing. The amenities are here and so are some fine employees but the four-star rating is dropping down to two.

The rooms and suites enjoy panoramic views of the Johor Bahru skyline and you have the choice of a king, double or two twin beds. Amenities include a marble bath, work desk, Internet access, minibar and in-room safe. The four top floors enjoy the benefits of the Regency Club Lounge offering complimentary continental breakfast, evening cocktails and canapés, all-day tea and coffee service and use of a private boardroom. Room service operates around the clock and everyone gets a newspaper delivered to their room.
