Jamaica Country Guide

Playing a large role in most of today’s rhythms and beats, Jamaica is a country filled with arts and culture. In addition to a vibrant nightlife it has miles of stunning beaches, world-class resorts and historic sites. Once you have come to Jamaica you will have a hard time choosing another destination that can compare to the experiences to be had here.

Some of Jamaica’s most popular places to visit include Kingston, Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Runaway Bay. Home to one of the largest natural harbors in the world, Kingston is the bustling capital city of Jamaica. It also offers you a wealth of cultural options, great shopping and a thriving nightlife. Be sure to ask your hotel what areas are worth visiting. Negril, once known as a hippie town, still has a relaxed feel to it. It would be near impossible to not relax while visiting here considering it has some of the finest beaches in the world. World-class beaches also mean fantastic water sports and Negril is no exception. Amazing dive sites, great swimming and snorkeling are only a few of the activities you can enjoy. It also boasts one of the largest beaches in the country. For those vacationers who love to loll around in the surf make your way to Montego Bay. The pristine beaches and calm waters create an excellent environment for the beach bums. Also, Montego Bay has its fair share of interesting markets for the shoppers traveling with you.

Ocho Rios draws sun worshippers like a moth to a flame. Creator of the James Bond series Ian Fleming even called this paradise home. In fact, you can stroll along the coast of James Bond beach. Dolphins love Ocho Rios as well. Make your way to Dolphin Cove and you will be able to swim with these playful creatures. One of the most famous sites this area has to offer is the incredible Dunn’s River Falls. Whether you stay close to ground level or climb your way up to the top, the views are stunning. Runaway Bay is a short drive away from Ocho Rios. It is here that you will be able to see the birthplace of Bob Marley. Renting a vehicle and making your way around the island is a wonderful way to see its treasures up close. You might even discover a little getaway yet to be put on a map.

Although the beaches are reason enough to come Jamaica also has its fair share of great sites. For example, you could visit St Andrew Parish Church, which is one of the oldest churches on the island. Or, you could explore the impressive Bob Marley Museum. However you spend your time you can always end your days enjoying a delicious meal and tasty beverage. The abundance of the local produce is outstanding as is its coffee. There is nothing better than starting out your day with a cup of this local java as you take in the beautiful scenery.

Move to the beat of da Jamaican way of life and learn what it really means to relax.
