Beautiful 7 mile beach vacation - posted on 02/23/2007

Loved our room - people were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good but very expensive. Drinks were delicious but also very expensive - could give you more! Beach was wonderful and our vacation was very restful. Walking on 7 mile beach everyday was very enjoyable. We will definately go back- 7 wonderful days.

Perfect vacation - posted on 02/15/2007

Hotel is right on the perfect sandy beach and only one mile from George Town (there is bus station across hotel). Rooms are nice and large; most of them have beach view. Service is excellent; staff is from all over the world ? from Croatia to Korea. Locals are very slow, like everywhere in Caribbean?s so hotels in Grand Cayman are importing workers who are fast, reliable and polite. Food is fine, but better options can be found around. Cayman Islands are expensive location so be prepared to pay about $40 per person for nice dinner and $5 for drink.

Wonderful Vacation - posted on 12/26/2006

Every hotel has a pool, a bar, a restaurant or two and a lobby. What separates them is great staff, and this hotel has it. We were made to feel welcome and pampered from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed. Our oceanfront room was wonderful, Red Sail sports ran a terrific water sports and tours program, and the international staff was always eager to please. Bravo!

Girls Flying Solo! - posted on 12/25/2006

I absolutely LOVED my stay at the hotel --even extended my vacation a couple of days. Yes the beaches were rocky but everyone who researches the island knows that going in. The waters and beaches were VERY clean and wondrous. I will definitely go back ASAP. I highly recommend this hotel for women travellers who want safety along with the peace of the ocean.

We loved our hotel. It has a very nice beach and is close to Georgetown, restaurants, and other hotels. We would recommend it.

Great time - posted on 09/23/2006

Have just returned from wonderful 14 days. Didn't realise it was the low season, but for us this was fantastic as beach & pool was ours! The staff all had time for us, nothing too much trouble. Weather great. Ate breakfast in hotel but evening meal at restaurants, could eat cheap or expensive great choice. Good ? to $ exchange. Room was very nice & communal areas very well looked after. No complaints. Had fantastic time, recommended.

August 2006 - posted on 08/30/2006

Room and Hotel were nice and clean. Beach was beautiful and good location. Pool pump broken, so pool cloudy and not clean. Food was extremely expensive and not very good. Bar drinks very expensive for very small drinks. About $10 ea (US)and I'm not sure they actually contained alcohol. 15% gratituity is automatically added to all food/drink so the service was lacking. Most people in hotel ate/drank elsewhere.

Let Down - posted on 07/21/2006

Snorkeling great. Saw fish, squid, stingrays. Many rocks in water, watershoes would be helpful. Food was very expensive and not good. Minibar in room was empty. No soda sold in machines or store to fill minibar fridge. Pool became very green & finally closed our last day. AC did not work properly in room (too hot and squealed). No housekeeping one day. Called twice before they came to clean that night. Many of staff not friendly & did not even respond when greeted hello. This happened more than once from more than one person. Bell & waitstaff friendly however. Would not return.

Needs Improvement - posted on 07/17/2006

The snorkeling right off the beach was wonderful. We saw many fish, stingray, and squid. Our room was not cleaned one day and it took two phone calls before someone came to clean it. The minibar was an empty refrigerator and the hotel store did not sell water or sodas to fill it with. The staff's friendliness (with exceptions including the bell staff and waitstaff) needs improvement. There was more than one person that I greeted and did not even get a hello in response. The food was not good and was VERY costly. It definitely feels more like a "hotel" than a "resort." I would not return.

We had a fabulous stay at the Marriott Beach Resort. They have done a lot of upgrades since our last visit and the hotel is so beautiful now. The restaurants, pool and bar are all exceptional!

Great new resort on Seven Mile Beach. Very upscale with a new spa and dining right on the beach.

Great Experience - posted on 12/11/2005

We just got back from our wedding at the Marriott. The service was unbelievable. They truly bend over backwards to make your stay memorable. The renovations are amazing. The view from the oceanfront rooms is amazing. The food is expensive, but this is a fact of the entire island. The scuba diving was incredible, a night dive on the reef is a must. The only thing lacking was the sand on the beach which they lost during hurricane Wilma. They have plans to bring sand from the other side of the island later this month. We are already planning our return visit...

Cayman Vacation - posted on 11/14/2005

The hotel was newly remodeled from the last hurricane and in great shape. The only problem was the small pool area for a large hotel. The hotel advertised as being on seven mile beach but the beach area was poor at best or non-existent. To walk on seven mile beach you had to walk along the street about one half a mile and then back to the beach. The price was good but if you want a great beach location pick another hotel along seven mile beach.

Rocky eroded beach but okay place with GREAT ROOMS - posted on 11/12/2005

The beach is terribly eroded. There is only about 10 feet of sand. The rest is rock. The pool is serviceable, but not pretty....very small. Drinks are expensive, food is overpriced (daily breakfast buffet is about $17 US) no music at the pool or near bar. Right across the street is a Pizza Hut, a Wendy's and a Burger King. Much of area is deserted still as the damage from Hurricane Ivan has not been repaired. Most hotels are closed or partially opened. The food on the island was fantastic; but be prepared to pay....
