Customer Reviews for Holiday Inn Sunspree Beach Resort & Casino

Great value for the price - posted on 05/16/2007

Spent our 10 day honeymoon here. Pleasant staff and nice beach/pool area. Our a/c didn't work, but they changed our room ASAP. Request a renovated room, some towers were outdated. Several families, but it's the Holiday Inn. We didn't do the all-inclusive plan; several places to eat nearby. The best restaurants are El Gaucho and Madame Janette's. Other hotels had nice properties, but the cost was more expensive. Bus system is easy to ride and cheaper than cabs. The Take the Pelican catamaran tour and rent a Jeep to explore the island by yourself.

Pleasantly Surprised - posted on 05/07/2007

Spent eight days ay the Sunspree during March Break. Price was very attractive. Found the service, food and amenities a pleasant surprise considering the lower price as compared to neighbouring properties. Will return.

Aruba is great, The hotel however was not. It was like being at camp which is fine for kids but not adults. The restaurants and pool close too early. I would not recommend this hotel

Family of 6 goes to Aruba - posted on 04/26/2007

We loved the beach with its white sand and warm, clear water. The pools were a big hit with our kids ages 4, 12, 14, 17. Glad we went all-inclusive, save lots of $ on food, drinks, snacks. Rooms were a little dated and the elevators were slow but I understand they were getting ready to remodel. Staff needs to know where a person can find common medicines at night when traveler's tummy strikes! Loved our vacation, kids still talking about how awesome it was!

family hotel - posted on 04/10/2007

I would rate our trip to Aruba as very good. The hotel, Sunspree, wasn't as clean or 'new' as it could have been. The staff were friendly and helpful. Many children.... a family place ...definately not for older couples. Casino was small

Relaxing and Fun - posted on 04/05/2007

We had a great time. We were looking for a relaxing vacation with a nice room on the ocean. We got exactly that. Our Room in the Bonaire tower overlooked the ocean with Spectacualr views. The staff was friendly and attentive. We did not eat on site except for snacks so I can't rate the food. Within walking distance of many casinos and restaurants plus the concierge has great choices for places to eat. It's Vacation so how can one complain... i saw many doing that which makes me think they just aren't happy to begin with. If you are goin here you WILL enjoy it if you let yourself.

Reserving Huts - posted on 03/15/2007

Be prepared to get up EARLY like 6am reserving a decent hut or one can move 3-5 minutes under a palm tree or get burned! Heard it right-- there are only 660 rooms and only roughly about 65-68 huts-- how can one find a hut at 8am or later? Other than that we had a fantastic time Holiday Inn has the best beach with no boats or seaweed, never used pool, ate out, be prepared to drink alot of water your kidneys will thank you. The heat is brutal but we had nice breezes and nice hotel staff.

get your act together - posted on 02/24/2007

hotel unclean! Pool/beach area trashy. Trashcans always full. Room service left in halls days. first day coffee stirrer on floor. Still there when leaving. Bedding stained, disgusting. VERY short staffed. check out my mother (83) and I (55) had to carry bags and load them into the car no bellmen. Managers cocktail party announced all day at pool. went there..NO PARTY.. forgot to tell guests it had been cancelled due to Carnival Holiday. Breakfast buffet was nice but costly $55 for 3. Cheaper and better places. property in a GREAT location. Just needs TLC and better management.

Had an ocean view room worth the xtra money I have great pictures from the balcony. However i traveled with a large group and we all waited 2 hours to check in and then our rooms were not ready. This hotel is good if you want to go to Aruba for cheap or traveling with a group or family. I am going back to Aruba and I will be staying first class all the way!

I went with my husband last Jan. I had to fight for room service, HUGE disappointment with that. My husband was sick, so we stayed in a few days. Housekeepers RUDE, and just knocked once and entered rooms. Did not like that AT ALL. Outside area was awesome. Front desk people were great, upgraded our room to ocean veiw bc we didnt like orginal room bc we could see a ROOF with const. wrkers, No entertainment what so ever, food was the same in both restaraunts. We at across st at Tony Romas most every night. Not sure if id go back.

Cheap really IS cheap - posted on 11/26/2006

If you're looking for a cheap trip...well then this is the place to stay. However...CHEAP IS CHEAP. The food is under-par. One tower is under construction. The outdoor grill and bar is closed. The poolside bar is closed. So basically theres only two bars open during the day...one all the way in the lobby and one in the lounge. There are no outside bars. If a problem arises, the staff wont help you, nor do they care.

The hotel sits on a white sanded beach with 6 swimming pools the staff was very helpful and frendly and the food was delicious. The location was also central and you could see other islands from miles away from you balcony.

Not worth it! - posted on 09/08/2006

Stayed there for a long weekend on the all-inclusive package - not worth the savings. The food was horrible and we were not aware of the restaurant "policies" You need to make reservations the day of and men need to wear long pants to the Cafe DA Vinci - no one informed us of this (my husband didn't pack long pants for Aruba!) and therefore we were turned away for dinner - forcing us to eat at the buffett yet again!

First Trip to Aruba - posted on 09/08/2006

Our trip to Aruba was great, but the hotel was not really a contributing factor in that assessment. The Holiday Inn was exactly what we expected - a Holiday Inn. The staff was friendly, the hotel facilities were well maintained and beach was great. The rooms were basic with no bells and whistels and a little on the older side. The pools closed at 7:00 every night for chemical treatment until around 5:00 the next morning, so if you are a night swimmer this may not be the hotel for you.

If you like to drink, the all inclusive package will pay for itself. We were booked by a travel agent for our honeymoon. Were surprised at how low the price was and then had a top floor ocean front room. Staff were very nice and we loved the beach front bar.

My family 9 total loved Aruba and our stay at Holiday Inn.We had the all inclusive package. It was a little disappointing as there were only 2 restaurants to choose from. One needed reservations. Food, drinks and service were great, however. Buffet on Sat and Sun very nice but closed rest of week. Only open for breakfast during week but food was good. Everyone very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beach was absolutley beautiful as was the hotel. We look forward to going back and would stay at the Holiday Inn again! We enjoyed ourselves and look forward to our return.

No matter how good or affordable a hotel is, if noisy room doors slam all hours of day and night and prevent you from getting the sleep you need, it is NOT worth it. The doors slam very hard when guests eneter or leave their rooms or when Housekeeping staff opens a room door at 7:00 am or at 3:00 am...

Disappointment - posted on 04/25/2006

The all inclusive was a joke! We were treated like a nuisance instead of a guest. Had a problem with a hair braiding solicitor on the beach- Told the hotel about it and they basically said too bad for you! Would not return to this hotel it was NOT worth the money!! But the beach and the weather were great!

Not newly renovated - posted on 11/23/2005

First room's bathroom had mold and mildew on the wallpaper. Second room's thermostat didn't work, requested service twice nothing was ever done. We had purchased all-inclusive and the food at the buffets was edible. The indoor lounge smelled so bad from spilled beer and alchol that one could not frequent it. No Glitz or Glamour at this hotel.

Lazing on the Beach - posted on 10/02/2005

Hotel was clean and neat always. We loved the pizza but the food in the restarants was awfull. We ate there once and never attempted it again, There are lovely places to eat great food just a short walk away. Our room was kept very clean with lots of towels everday twice a day. Drinks were wonderful and the beach was outstanding. Pool is very nice. The bed left imprints of the springs on us daily and this may keep me from visiting this hotel again. It is a great bang for your buck, I personally don't need luxury, just beach. Highly recommend if you can stand the beds and dont want AI.

The food was soso and pretty expensive compared to surrounding restaurants. The employees were minimally helpful regarding problems or questions. The room was great, and the room attendents did a wonderful job keeping the hotel room clean and organized. Pool and beach area was beautful! If you are looking for an average hotel with a pretty good price, this is it.

I have to say I was disappointed. The menu had changed since last year. Grouper was the only fish served. I couldn't get in at the Miramar, but the menu was Italian (I don't go to Aruba for Italian.) The Buffet nights of Caribbean and Mexican were good. The rooms need updating and the property in general could be kept cleaner. If it weren't for the great beach front, this hotel would be really lacking.
