The Istanbul Marmara Hotel is somewhat of an Istanbul landmark. Located right in the heart of Taksim, which is the thriving centre of İstanbul's nightlife, shopping, cultural and restaurant scene, this hotel could probably boast the best location in the city. The old city and the historical sights of Sultanahmet are also easily accessible from the Marmara. It's location also affords the hotel unbeatable views which stretch from the Bosphorus all the way to the Marmara Sea. The hotel caters well to business travellers with executive rooms which have been specially designed with business travellers in mind. Extras such as the Turkish bath, medical service, sauna, fitness centre, hairdresser and gift shops set the Marmara apart from similar hotels and ensure that your every need is catered for.
Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
Opinions of the hotel from guests who have stayed there over the last two years range from very high to quite low. Guests generally compliment the views from the rooms, the bars and restaurants and the location. The rooms themselves are clean and nicely decorated but a little on the small side. Guests also give top marks to the gym (reportedly the best hotel gym in the city) and the Turkish bath which offers a relaxing massage.Marmara Istanbul also has some reputable restaurants but the price of the food (20 US dollars for a standard breakfast) is a good incentive to try some of the impressive local restaurants in the Taksim area. Despite the rooms not being very expensive, services and extras generally are pricey. The other main drawback is the noise level.

All 410 rooms of the Marmara İstanbul are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite television, bath, direct dial telephone, voice-mail, email and internet connection, in-room safe and a mini-bar. The biggest selling point of these rooms, however, seems to be the outstanding views which encompass the Bosphorus, Seraglio Point and the Sea of Marmara with the highest rooms offering the best views. A room on the fourteenth floor or higher is recommended if you don't like traffic noise.
The Marmara is packed with facilities, the most famous of which are the eateries. The Panorama Restaurant features Turkish and international cuisine prepared by renowned chef Sedat Ozkan and has views of both the city and the Bosphorus which are among the best in İstanbul. For a more relaxed feel, there is The Brasserie which features a sweeping view of Taksim Square and of course the Cafe Marmara, with it's wide selection of gourmet coffees and desserts; it's a favoured hangout of İstanbul's cultural elite. Add to this an outdoor swimming pool, Turkish bath and top notch gym complete with personal trainers and little extras like a gift shop and in-house doctor and you have a hotel that really takes care of your needs.
This is probably the easiest hotel in the city to find. Pretty much every taxi driver in town will know where it is but if they don't, simply take a bus, yellow dolmus or taxi to Taksim Square and it will be there right next to the Ataturk Cultural Centre.
From the airport
Take the E5 motorway and exit at Beşiktaş onto Barbaros Boulevarde.
This trip will be around 30 minutes but allow more time for traffic jams.
