This 146-room modern hotel enjoys a good location in Madrid’s financial district next to Retiro Park and Puerta de Alcalá. The hotel is designed for both the leisure and business traveler and it is only 20 kilometers from the city’s international airport Barajas. There are some added touches here – like top of the line bathroom toiletries – that you don’t find in all NH properties. There are numerous restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Several previous clients have complained about a surly attitude from members of the staff and poor management. More recent travelers don’t mention that. NH Alcala Accommodations

All rooms come with wireless Internet access, work desk, cable TV and pay per view movies, a choice of pillows, DDL telephone, in-room safe and minibar. The bathrooms have a hairdryer and telephone. The more expensive superior rooms also have coffee and tea making facilities. The hotel has what it calls “women style” rooms which have additional items including a nail file, lip balm, defoliating gloves and the ladies magazine Telva, which is ideal if you speak Spanish. Room service is also available at certain times of the day.

Amenities offered

The 24-hour reception desk manned by a multi-lingual staff can arrange car rentals, currency exchange and laundry and dry cleaning. The hotel offers a hold luggage service. The property has conference and banqueting facilities that can accommodate up to 300 people. A full range of audio-visual equipment is available for hire. There is restaurant open for a breakfast buffet and lunch and dinner in addition to a cocktail lounge.
