The Intercontinental was beautiful. Our room was very nice, however rather than a king bed we had two singles that were pushed together with a rather large gap between the two beds that no amount of pushing together could get rid of, the hotel is reasonably near the metro which makes up for its not being quite within walking distance of the major Madrid attractions. Beware the exorbitant minibar prices and the very pricey restaurant. The concierge was very helpful as well. Upon returning home, some confusion over our bill has arisen, but customer care is very helpful and I expect a positive resolution.
The room had every amenity imaginable.
Room was very small (as is typical in Spain) and instead of a king we had two single beds pushed together (with a significant gap between them!).

I would highly recommend this hotel for it's high quality, service, value and location. Would love to visit again.
Concierge service was outstanding. Entire staff was very service oriented and friendly.
Like all public areas in Spain, smoking is permitted in lobby lounges, this hotel is no exception.

The hotel has 307 guest rooms, including 28 suites. The more expensive rooms on the Executive Floor offer business additional benefits such a free breakfast, use of the business center and cocktails and snacks in the evening. All rooms are fully equipped as you would expect from an InterContinental hotel. Wireless Internet is available in all rooms and public areas. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

There is fine indoor dining at Restaurante El Jardín del InterContinental offering typical Spanish cuisine as well as international dishes. From May to October the summer patio is open for both lunch and dinner. This is a great place to stay in a great city. There is lots of action outside the hotel and lots of peace inside. There is a feeling of old world charm coupled with all modern conveniences. If you are traveling to and from the airport try and avoid the rush hour. Even circling the city, to miss the downtown traffic, can take a long time.
