Bilbao is a classic European city founded over 700 years ago. The stunning architecture showcases the many styles used throughout the centuries. The large walkways make it easy to navigate the city by foot so you’ll truly be able to appreciate its beauty up close. There are many museums, parks, beaches close by, fascinating buildings and of course many great restaurants. Well known for its fine cuisine, you’ll enjoy great meals. But no worries, with all the walking you’ll be doing, you’ll work up an appetite for each meal, providing you with ample opportunity to try out many great restaurants.

It’s a good idea to grab a map of the city and become familiar with the areas you’d like to explore. Each district has something unique to offer. One of the highlights is the Mercado de La Ribera, Spain's largest covered market. Or you could visit the Inglesia de San Anton, one of Bilbao's oldest churches. The historic center is home to the Diputation Palace, the Provicial Museum, the Casilda Iturriza Park and the fantastic Fine Arts Museum.

Take a stroll along the riverside and enter the Old Quarter, home to many fascinating buildings and great restaurants. Here you’ll find the world famous Guggenheim Museum. The Guggenheim in Bilbao has a reputation for being one of the greatest buildings of the 20th century. Its many fascinating exhibits and grounds are a definite must.

Although the Guggenheim reflects the beauty of 20th century architecture, Bilbao is packed full of historical architecture. Visit the Puente Colgante, the first hanging transporter bridge built in 1893 which is still in use today. Some of the monasteries where built in the 10th century. Strolling through the streets of Bilbao is a walking tribute to the many different types of architecture that have brought us to the designs in use today.

If you need a break from site seeing, make your way to San Sebastian. Ideally situated at the Bahia de la Concha Bay, you’ll enjoy catching a few rays at this amazing seaside resort.
