My wife and I stayed at The Golden Tulip from 9/1/06 to 9/6/06. We walked to everything and only used the tram once. Near Centraal Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square, the Jordaan district and more. Don't underestimate this feature. Staff was helpful but sometimes not as knowledgeable as we would have liked. The room was small but clean. Free safe in the room. Close to tons of restaurants, coffee shops and brown cafes including Humphries right next door (reservation here suggested). The hotel stored our bags free of charge while we travelled to Belgium.

Great location for Amsterdam. Across the street from tram stop 2 blocks from Red Light District. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. Parking was expensive 42euros for 30 hours at local parking garage

This hotel was fabulous. It was within walking distance to Centraal Station, Dam square and the trams ran just outside the door. Shopping and restaurants were all around the hotel, yet it is on a street without any motorized vehicles so it is very quiet in the rooms. I recommend this location to all and I will certainly stay there again.

My wife and I will recommend this hotel highly. yeah, the rooms were small but CLEAN. six or seven coffeeshops420 within a quater mile.

Staff was very helpfull every time we asked. They held our bags untill check in, which went very quick. Free wifi, Perfect location close to Red Light Distric

NO room service, food in restaruant was not good... and pricey. The staff was very rude during night when asked for suggestions for restaurant. a nice 3 star, but in NO way 4 stars. Hotel NOT a good value for the money. Due to price gouging and a "NOT friendly" cancellation policy..

We wondered what this hotel would be like when we booked it for such a reasonable rate, but were very pleasantly surprised with the clean decent sized rooms & friendly staff.

Our second stay in Amsterdam. I'd pick this hotel again based on the great location (near Central train station, red light district, many coffeeshops, places to eat, Damrak. Room was small but comfortable and very clean. For nonsmokers, even a nonsmoking room smells like smoke because the smoke comes into the room under the door (but, in Amsterdam many places will be smokey anyway). Breakfast was a touch expensive but convenient and with a good variety.

Ive been here a lot. Many trips 91 through 05. I came in 04 with a Radio station from Providence. The location is great for coffeeshops, and very close to the red light district. The trains will take you anywhere, quickly, and cheap! Check in is a little slow, but worth it to me. Thumbs up!

Convenient hotel located in the heart of the city center. Near to Dam Square and Centraal Station, offering affordable rates and clean and stylish rooms. Check in was tedious, as the hotel had no record on the reservation. Fortunately I had printed it and brought a copy along!

I have been to amsterdam many times, and this was the best place i have ever stayed. The staff is helpfull, the rooms are very clean, and the bedsare very comfortable, although i didn't sleep to often. All of these things are great, but the location tops all of them. It's right by the Leidsplien, maybe a five minute walk, and the wonderfull coffeshops. It's about another 15-20 minute walk to Dam Square.

i thought the front desk staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. and i loved the little hard candys on the front desk are. nice touch considering where we are!!!!
