The American Hotel is a great place to stay in Amsterdam. Very easy to find and centrally located. It's 30 seconds from the nearest tram stop. Our room had a beautiful view of the canal. It was clean and nice, and the service was friendly.

We had made a reservation at the Hem Hotel Maas and were VERY disappointed. So we left there and stayed a few doors down at the Amsterdam American. The staff was extremely friendly. It was the largest room we found in our 3 week Europe vacation, with an excellent balcony. Location couldn't be better. Only complaint is that our floors squeaked. Nonetheless, the entire hotel was very classy and modern. They also recommended a great Indonesian restaurant.
