The Amsterdam American Hotel, located in the center of the Leidseplein, is a well-known art nouveau monument. Original stained-glass windows are still there. This multi-storied property has non-smoking and smoking floors. Most of the rooms afford beautiful views of the Leideseplein or canals. The major sights, including the Vondel Park, Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum, theaters, bars, shopping streets and restaurants are a short stroll away. There are three well-appointed meeting rooms. To lighten you travel bags, the hotel offers bathrobes, slippers and toiletries.

The hotel, an art landmark, offers plush, comfortable and spotless guest accommodations. The rich and wealthy loves the Mata Hari Suite for honeymoon and leisure trips. All travelers raved about its convenient location, excellent staff, panoramic views and good food. But some travelers felt that good service was not consistent. You can choose from the American Junior Suites, Deluxe American Rooms and Classic American Rooms. Both exteriors and interiors of the hotel are designed and decorated tastefully. Some of the Classic American Rooms, measuring 20-30 square meters, have a balcony. The spacious American Junior Suites are lavishly appointed with modern amenities. There are original marble pillars in the Mata Hari Suite. The bathroom of the suite has a whirlpool.

The Art Deco restaurant, the Café Americain, has French and international menu. Every Sunday, you can enjoy the Live Jazz Brunch at the restaurant. The private rooms are also available for dining. Each room has a plasma-screen television with pay movies and satellite channels. There is an Internet corner in the lounge area for surfing. The hotel organizes art exhibitions regularly in the lobby. You can unwind in the sauna.
