A 19th century monastery that used to belong to the Barefoot Carmelite Friars of Venice was converted in to Hotel Abbazia. Much of the original structure and architecture has been retained and enhanced with rich hues and period furnishing. The charming private garden of the hotel provides a peaceful break from the activity of Venice. Restaurants and souvenir shops are within walking distance from the hotel. Rialto Bridge is about a mile from the hotel while Saint Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs are approximately one and a half miles away.

The hotel is located near several public transport options for getting to and from, and around Venice. The reasonably priced rooms are clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom, and helpful staffs will accommodate requests where possible. Hotel Abbazia has 50 rooms with Twin or King bed combinations. All rooms have individually controlled air conditioning, central heating, satellite television, direct dial telephone, mini bar, and desk. The attached bathroom has a shower, bidet, extra towels and hair dryer. Room service is available during designated hours and guests enjoy complimentary buffet breakfast. Non-smoking rooms are available on request. Some rooms offer a view of the hotel’s garden.

From Marco Polo airport, take a 20-minute ride on the ATVO shuttle or bus number 5 to Piazzale Roma; from San Guiseppe airport in Treviso, take the ATVO shuttle to Piazzale Roma. From Piazzale Roma, turn right to Fondamenta Santa Chiara then continue on to Fondamenta Santa Croce to walk along the Grand Canal. Continue along Fondamenta San Simeone Piccolo then turn left and cross Ponte Scalzi. Turn left on to Fondamenta degli Scalzi and continue along Calle Carmeliani to arrive at Hotel Abbazia.

From Santa Lucia train station, walk along Calle Carmeliani to arrive at Hotel Abbazia shortly.
