Within walking distance from Saint Mark’s Square and overlooking the Basin of Saint Mark’s, the four-storey Metropole Hotel impresses with its baroque interiors and rare artifacts from a private collection. The star of the hotel is its Met Restaurant, serving regional Italian dishes in an outdoor garden complete with sculptures and a fountain. There is also a selection of over 30 specialty teas offered together with home-made pastries and cakes for afternoon tea at the Venetian Mirror Hall. Epicurean delights, wines and cigars await at Bar Zodiaco with planets and constellations hand-painted on its ceiling.

If a Venice perspective by Jacopo de'Barbari is accurate, then the building housing the hotel has stood since 1501. Since then, the building has been an orphanage, a church where Antonio Vivaldi composed some of his most celebrated masterpieces including Four Seasons (Quattro Stagioni), and a military hospital during World War II. After the war, it returned to being a hotel. Since 1970, it has been managed by the Beggiato family, who furnished the property with more than 2,000 artworks and antiques from their personal collection. Read our customer reviews?

Metropole Hotel Accommodations

The 70 air-conditioned rooms of Metropole Hotel are individually decorated, featuring original artwork and antique furnishing. All rooms come with satellite television, Internet access, mini bar, in-room safe, direct dial telephone, extra towels & bedding, welcome amenities, toiletries, slippers, hair dryer, and complimentary buffet breakfast. Daily housekeeping and a turndown service are provided, while in-room massages and cribs are available upon request.

Business guests have access to a range of administrative facilities at the business center as well as a choice of three meeting rooms seating 100 (maximum) for meetings, conferences or seminars. Option 1: Take the water taxi from Marco Polo Airport or Santa Lucia train station to Metropole Hotel.

Option 2: By car/foot - Exit Marco Polo airport via A27. Continue on to SS14 and then get on SR11 to arrive in Venice. Continue along Ponte della Libertà then turn left on to Piazzale Roma and continue on foot. Turn left on to Fondamenta Dei Tolini then right on to Campazzo Dei Tolini followed by another left on to Corte Dei Amai. Walk straight along Calle Delle Sacchere to Calle Della Chiovere then turn right to Calle Dietro l'Archivio. Take a left on to Campiello Delle Chiovere then get on Calle Tintoretto and continue on to Salizzada San Rocco. Turn left at Campo Dei Frari then right on to Fondamenta Dei Frari followed by another left on to Rio Terra. Take a right on to Calle 2A Dei Saoneri then a turn left on to Calle Dei Saoneri and continue on to Salizzada San Polo. Carry on along Calle Madonetta to Campiello Di Meloni then Calle Di Mezzo. Continue on to Calle Dell'Olio Detta Rughetta then Ruga Ravano and Ruga Vecchia San Giovanni before turning right to Calle Toscana. Take a left to Campo Rialto Novo then turn right on to Calle Del Gambero and take another left to Fondamenta Del Vin. Turn right to Ponte Di Rialto and continue along Salizzada Pio X. Turn right to Via Due Aprile then left to Calle Stagneridetta Della Fava. Carry on to Campo Della Fava before turning left to Calle Della Fava and getting on Calle Larga. Turn left to Calle Del Caffettier then turn right to Salizzada San Lio followed by another left to Alle Del Mondo Nuovo. Take a right to Fondamenta Dei Preti then turn left to Campo Santa Maria Formosa and continue along Ruga Giuffa. Turn right to Calle Della Corona then turn left to Fondamenta Dell'Osmarin. Continue on to Fondamenta Di San Lorenzo then turn right Calle Della Madonna followed by another right on to Calle Dei Greci. Continue straight on Calle Bosello and then along Calle Della Pieta to arrive at Metropole Hotel.
