Located close to the railway station, in a zone that used to belong to the Spanish community of Venice, the three-storey Hotel Universo & Nord is housed in an annex of the former Spanish embassy. There is a restaurant and café in the hotel, which is within walking distance to other dining options in Venice. Rialto Bridge is less than a mile from the hotel while Saint Mark’s Square is slightly over a mile away.

Universo Nord Hotel Accommodations

There are 65 rooms at Universo & Nord Hotel that either face the Grand Canal, Lista di Spagna (street) or the hotel’s inner courtyard. All rooms have individual air conditioning, color television, telephone, mini refrigerator, shower and hair dryer. Guests can enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast in the breakfast hall on the ground floor. Cots are available upon request.

The hotel’s premises are entirely air conditioned and a porter will assist with luggage, with the exception of evening and late arrivals. There are facilities for laundry, and the front desk is operational for 24-hours and extends services for faxing, safe deposit box and car rental. From the car terminal at Piazzale Roma, turn right to Fondamenta Santa Chiara then continue on to Fondamenta Della Croce followed by Fondamenta San Simeon Piccolo. Turn left on to Ponte Scalzi then take a left to Fondamenta degli Scalzi and continue on to Rio Terra Lista di Spagna to arrive at the hotel. If you prefer taking a water bus, take numbers 1, 82, 42 or 52 and stop at the next stop, Ferrovia. Walk along Fondamenta degli Scalzi then Rio Terra Lista di Spagna to arrive at the hotel.
