Best Western Cavalletto E Doge Orseolo is housed in the 10th century home that belonged to Pietro Orseolo II, who later became a Doge. Converted into a hotel during the early 14th century, the building stands along a basin that overlooks Venice’s largest gondola station. Views of the gondola basin and passing gondolas are offered from the Bar del Doge lounge, which serves snacks and drinks. There are several eateries and souvenir shops in the hotel’s vicinity. Saint Mark’s Square is within walking distance from the hotel while Rialto Bridge is about 660 yards away.
