I love this hotel - posted on 01/08/2007
We have stayed at this holel twice and have had great experiences both times. Our rooms have been large, clean, and well-appointed and the concierge and other staff are great. I was surprised to read the other reviews--the hotel is well worth the price and is well-located. I have never felt the least insecure about walking from the train station to the hotel at any hour of the day. The Baboon Bar is a wonderful looking place, but the prices for the drinks are sky high.
Over priced hotel - posted on 12/01/2006
A great disappointment. Presenting a grand front, but nothing else. Forgot we were waiting for check-in. Poor service. Ordinary rooms.2 Rooms were to be the same--one half the size of the other.
Needs Improvement: everything
Not attractive - posted on 02/25/2006
The rooms are aged and stained, but large. Convenience to the railway station is a plus, but the location is otherwise unappealing. The biggest problem is that this hotel is vastly overpriced. There are better values in the area, but the concierge staff were very helpful.
Big Mistake - posted on 01/20/2006
The location is directly across from the railway station. There are a crowd of unsavory characters approx. 20 meters from the front entrance day and night. The staff suggests not to venture out at night. The 2nd floor room was filled with spider webs which took two people to clean and the first floor rooms are decorated in early institutional. The smell eminating from the rotting rodent in the main lobby is intoxicatingly bad! This hotel is revolting! NO GOOD!

I read the reviews that were on the internet was getting a bit scared about staying there. All I can say, is that the people who wrote the bad ones obviously don't get out much! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the hotel is in a very central location and the rooms are big and clean! What more do you need for a city break?

The hotel charged 20.00 euros per day to access the internet. And someone would have to come in and log on for you, which can be a hassle
