This was my second stay at the Russell Hotel in London. The hotel itself is lovely-with grand architecture and a rich interior. Moreover, the location is optimal for travel on the underground and by foot. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Whenever in London, I would opt to stay at the Russell.

The location is great. I stayed in two different rooms. The first one, on the 8th floor, had rust coming out of the tap and occasionally the toilet would NOT flush. Not to mention the lift only went to the 7th floor so I had to walk a flight of stairs to get to my room. My next room was better but had what appear to be black stains on the wallpaper which I had to assume had been mold at one time. However, the hotel staff was very attentive and friendly. I was expecting a much better room for the rates I was paying.

This hotel grossly misrepresents room types on these online websites, particularly the high-end rooms. I reserved a Contemporary Double, advertised as a "suite" with plasma TV and air-conditioning. The room I received had none of these, and the hotel to date is refusing to grant a partial refund.
