What a beautiful hotel. The staff was excellent and the deluxe room was very roomy. I would stay there again!!!

It is good to be in an spanish group Hotel, things are more relaxed. they serve the best Ham of the world "Jamon Pata Negra" in your room or at the bar.
Disappointing - posted on 10/03/2006
If you're looking for an "English" or "British" experience - you won't find it here. The hotel appears to be part of a Spanish hotel group and most of the staff were not English, with the result that while friendly, sometimes they have trouble communicating. My stay was frustrating as the computers in the business center broke down with no alternative to go online. The bed was old and uncomfortable, the rooms were not that clean. Overall inconsistent quality and service and sub-par for the star rating and price.

Just a very nice hotel, in an expensive town where hotels can often disappoint.
concierge was the best - posted on 09/04/2006
We bought all of our tickets from the concierge for the attractions in London. Very convenient to Great Portland Station. If you get a Melia Card, you can have 2 buffet breakfasts for the price of one. Great location, nice and clean, rooms a bit small, but they are all small in London. They have computers you can use to get onto the internet in the business center, but they cost. Would definately stay again. Great service, convenient location and pretty clean.

Great location - beautiful Regents Park next door, convenient to multiple tube stops, fantastic staff. "Royal" upgrade well worth it

Totally impressed with this property! Beautiful rooms, shower had great pressure and endless hot water. Close to several tube stations and within walking distance to great shopping and many tourist sites. Close to Regent's Park if you just want to stop and smell the roses. Bed/pillows were super comfortable and staff was helpful, efficient and knowledgable. Eat at the Metropolitan bar by Madame Tussade's (walking distance or take the tube) for cheap, hearty eats. I'd stay here again (and again!!).

We stayed 6 nights at this property, It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in
Loved it - posted on 04/23/2006
Have stayed there twice, 10/2000 and 9/2002 the tube is very close on the Circle Line which connects to anywhere you need to go in London, excellent pubs close by, staff is quite knowledgeable and helpful, the service is quite remarkable and the rooms are large by European standards, the redo in 2001 makes this a truly remarkable experience in London. rooms are quite comfy and spacious, the maid service was exceptional, I would stay there again when I return to London.

Excellent service. Staff helpful and available. Staff familiar with what is included in price. Spanish restaurant o.k.- not as good as independent Spanish restaurants in London. Rooms well serviced every day and on day of departure staff helpful in getting taxis. Recommend this hotel highly not only for its position and accommodation but also service.
melia white house-service is lacking - posted on 04/07/2006
Check in took 35 minutes. Room was smoking-asked for non-smoking. They changed the room but waited over 25 minutes after the porter who came up didn't have a key to the new room. New room was a king, not two doubles. Mattress had two large springs protruding from the center-needed to change rooms again. Again, long wait. Manager offered us free breakfasts for two days-Thurs and Fri, however no one in dining room knew about it and gave us a hard time wanting us to sign the bill to charge the room and deal with the manager later who wouldn't be back until Monday when we checked out.

Great location, just 4 minute walk from underground on a quiet street. Upgrade if possible. Ours was complimentary, but I would have paid. Thought food was a bit steep, but there are 2 excellent pubs within a block.
Excellent value hotel in good location. - posted on 11/22/2005
Good for business as well as vacation traveler. Reasonable rates (considering it is London). Service was outstanding. Very nice rooms, and excellent breakfast + cocktails in the Royal lounge. It is not a true five star experience (and they don't claim that) - but a superb 4++. They bill for in-room newspaper, even though one gets the impression they are free (this was the only drawback).

We really enjoyed our room. It was beautifully decorated and quite large by European standards. We really didn't use any of the facilities. The service was also good. It was close to the underground and downtown was easily accessible. A very enjoyable stay.

We were very disappointed by the way that our room was cleaned between one day and the next - empty cups and glasses left on counter etc.

Nice but small - posted on 07/19/2005
Lovely hotel. Room was very small but had everything you needed. The concierge I dealt with was lacking in basic information about activities in London. Luckily I was able to get the information elsewhere. The rest of the staff from the front desk to housekeepong was fine.

We loved this hotel! Admittedly we were upgraded to a Superior Room. It had a king-size bed, nice desk, marble bathroom, 3 telephones, and was very good size. The lobby is all marble with orchid flower displays. Very elegant. The tube is a short block away. Location just a little out of the way but easy to travel by subway. We were there for 7 nights.

This hotel is very clean & nice. Staff were polite. When staying here the rooms are small, but you have to remember you are in Europe. The buffet breakfast was nice (get ready for the beans & sausages), plenty of choices even for the americans!

My wife and I have stayed at the White House at least 5 times. We have always been very pleased with the accomidations. The rooms are small. But, who cares, when you're in London who spends much time in their hotel room. The breakfast buffet is a excellent. A great start before going touring London and the country side.
