Compliments; clean, quiet, convenient location for underground, theatres, Covent Garden, Leciester Square, good breakfast. Complaints; bathroom door wouldn't close, twin beds, smoking allowed in lobby. Cautions Large tour groups, pricey
Great location, tiny rooms - posted on 07/07/2006
The hotel is in an incredible location. Perfect for visits to the theatre district. However, I agree with the previous reviewer: the hallways were very difficult to navigate with large suitcases - fire doors every 10 feet and tons of them. The hotel is not on street-level and there are no ramps, so make sure your muscles are tuned-up. The rooms were very small (normal for Europe/England) and did not have a/c. It was 34-C (93-F) and the rooms did not cool off. Thankfully we only stayed one night.
Good Location on an older hotel - posted on 07/18/2005
Hotel is a remodeled one, and difficult to get around in, with unusual hallways and elevator locations. Service was just ok. Included breakfast was sparse. Bathroom was plain. Lack of Air conditioning meant for hot summer days. Consierge was sharp though and the location was excellent.

This hotel is not a destination resort - it is a large, busy, city center hotel. This is not for everyone, but we loved it! Housekeeping on our floor was excellent. Bathroom was large and clean. Shower was the best I have ever had in Europe, no kidding.
My only regret in London - posted on 01/31/2005
Poor frontdesk service. Tiny room and housekeeping available during certain hours in the afternoon. Super expensive internet access - double charging. Poor room serivce menu, and unfriendly staff (I met only one who was friendly. All others were....)

12/03 was my first visit to London. Got a great internet price.at the Strand Palace. traveled by myself and felt very safe in the hotel and surrounding areas. the concierge staff was very helpful and was always able to answer my questions and get me tour tickets. I stayed for 5 nights and housekeeping was thorough. I had a great pair of hiking boots and could walk to so many places from the Stand Palace. my room was small but had everything I needed. The bathroom was larger than in a lot of hotels and was always clean. I can't wait until I can go back!
