Prague is one of the best cities Europe has to offer. It intersects with many European countries and has therefore become a favorite for many travelers. As the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague has a rich combination of cultures as well as a fascinating history. Its buildings reflect centuries of architectural design and you’re able to enjoy all the sites as you stroll along the cobblestone streets. Prague is a beautiful city that has many rolling hills, wonderful walkways and fantastic areas all worth exploring. The Hrad?any area is well known for numerous sights. The Old Town is a maze of alleys and cobblestone streets and is home to the Staromestské námesti, a beautiful square. The Jewish quarter contains a few synagogues and the New Town is well known for its wide boulevards as well as the Wenceslas Square, which is home to the National Museum as well as the Wenceslas Monument.

One of the more popular areas in Prague is Old Town Square. Originally a marketplace dating as far back as the 12th century, it now showcases a stunning array of beautiful buildings as well as a great location for restaurants and cafes. The Prague Castle is a favorite among the tourists and is located in the Hrad?any district. Overlooking the Old Town since the 10th century, the castle is a magnificent building. You won’t have a difficult time finding considering it’s the biggest castle in the world. Standing at about 570 meters high, you’ll be amazed at its size when you visit. The castle houses the St. Vitus Cathedral as well as crown jewels of the Bohemian Kingdom. The Karlstein Castle, only a 30-minute train ride from Prague is also a beautiful castle worth exploring and is the most visited site outside of Prague.

The River Vltava runs through the city, creating a great wealth of stunning bridges. Take a tour down this beautiful river and be treated to a fantastic sightseeing tour. One of the most visited bridges in Prague is the Charles Bridge. Its foundation was first laid in 1357 and it stretches over 1,700 feet. You’ll find a wide variety of performers and musicians eager to showcase their talents. What are also unique features about this bridge are the 31 statues of saints that line its sides.

As surprising as it might seem, the Czechs love jazz. In fact, the Reduta is a world-renowned jazz club where music legends put on fantastic performances. Make reservations ahead of time though. This hotspot has the tendency to get booked up pretty quickly. And if jazz isn’t your thing, no worries. Prague has a huge selection of clubs and bars for you to enjoy the Czech nightlife. Over the past few years Prague has also become a fantastic stop for world famous musicians, some of which include U2, the Rolling Stones, Pavarotti, and many more. Whatever your music preference, Prague will offer you some of the best entertainment Europe has to offer.

For the more unique sites in Prague, visit the Lennon Wall. Located in the Grand Priory Square this run of the mill wall became a tribute to John Lennon when people began to write lyrics of famous Beatles songs on it. Another interesting site is the Fred and Ginger, or as the locals call it, the Dancing House. The building looks like its being sucked into a vacuum. And although that description may not entice you to see it, you’ll be glad you did when you go. And if your pocket book allows, make your way to the top where a fantastic French restaurant provides delicious meals as well as a great view of the city. Another great observation area can be found at the Pet?ínská rozhledna. With Prague being the center to many European travel hot spots, you may think you’ve jumped the border and entered Paris. The Pet?ínská rozhledna is a remarkable replica of the Eiffel Tower. This 60-meter high steel frame can give you a fantastic view of the city when you reach the top. But climbers, we warned. It’s a challenge but definitely worth the muscle pains when you get a look at the city below.

Exploring Prague is a fascinating experience where the modern world seems to have touched parts of the history that exists here. You may not spend a lot of time in this fascinating city but whatever time you give yourself, you’ll be glad you came to this jewel of a place.
