Yukon Territory Province Guide

This vast expanse is one of the most beautiful provinces Canada has to offer. Although it lacks swaying palm trees and white sandy beaches, its beauty is rugged and refreshing. The wide open spaces are filled with stunning landscapes, great sites, a thriving wildlife and exciting adventures.

The Yukon gained worldwide recognition once the Gold Rush era began. Thousands of hopefuls risked it all to find enough nuggets to retire. You too can experience what this was like and pan for gold at a few open gold mines. Other areas of interest include the Kluane National Park and Reserve of Canada, Beaver Creek, Miles Canyon and the impressive Haines Junction.

You know adventure awaits when terms such as ice bridges and winter roads are all part of the everyday vocabulary here. Another term worth knowing if you hail from balmy weather is parka. Although it can get incredibly cold you might be surprised to find the Yukon also offers wonderful summer months. In fact, the Yukon can receive an almost 24 hour day of sun when the warm weather arrives. Whatever time of year you come, keep your eyes open for the wildlife that call it home. Moose, elk, black bears and wolves are only a handful of the creatures you could see. The fishing in the Yukon is quite fantastic as well. Please remember that caution should always be used when exploring the area. The four-legged locals tend to be a bit leery of new visitors. One of the best places to see them is at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. Perhaps you would prefer to stay close to civilization. The towns offer unique art galleries and restaurants for you to enjoy but no Yukon experience can be considered complete unless you explore its great outdoors.

The snowcapped mountains stand as a constant backdrop and the northern lights dance across the sky. With air so crisp you can almost bite it, you will love the adventure the Yukon provides. It truly is an experience of a lifetime.
