This prairie province is located in the heart of Canada and established itself with its impressive agricultural influence. It is home to loyal football fans, provided a hideout for the legendary Al Capone and offers you lucky casinos. The vast wheat fields, fantastic sunrise and sunsets create a perfect backdrop to all that Saskatchewan has to offer.
Saskatchewan has been home to many interesting people. Grey Owl considered himself as a Native American and dedicated much of his life to understanding their way of life. He was also an advocate for preserving nature and was very knowledgeable in this area. You may come across a few red uniforms while traveling throughout this province since it is home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Training Centre. Green is another favorite color here. As the primary color for the beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders you will see true fan dedication if you happen to catch one of their games.
The Wascana Centre is one of the largest urban parks in North America. Inside you will find a sea of trees, a lake complete with its own islands and wonderful walking paths. The Wanuskewin Heritage Park is a fantastic place to learn about this province’s history and the pioneers who first called Saskatchewan home. Adventure awaits after the snow falls. In fact, Saskatchewan is a haven for snowmobilers eager to cruise along the hundreds of miles of groomed... and un-groomed trails. The Canadian Challenge takes advantage of these trails as well. Beginning in Prince Albert, this event is an impressive dog sled race that travels over 300 miles and ends in La Ronge, Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan’s casinos are also great reasons to come. The Painted Hand Casino in Yorkton, Casino Moose Jaw and Casino Regina are a few of the places for you to try out your luck. Speaking of luck, Al Capone sure found some here as well. The underground tunnels found in Moose Jaw were used to smuggle alcohol for this legendary gangster. This town also has a fantastic spa sure to sooth your soul.
You will soon see there is much more to this province than its impressive wheat fields. It is a province proud of its heritage and it is eager to showcase all that you can enjoy while exploring its planes.
