Prince Edward Island, also known as PEI, is a tiny island surrounded by the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait. The impressive bridge that joins Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick took over four years to complete and cost close to one billion dollars. Even if you were not planning to, the 30-minute drive provides you with stunning views. The area known as Charlotte’s Shore is where you will find most of the PEI businesses. The Province House National Historic Site of Canada is one of its interesting sites. It hosted the meetings that led to the Canadian Confederation. The grounds that surround it are quite beautiful as well.
Visiting any one of seaside cities and villages allows you to enjoy bustling harbors and waterfronts such as the Charlottetown Waterfront or the Malpeque Harbor. One of the best events PEI has to offer includes the annual International Shellfish Festival. In addition to the great activities, you can learn many new and creative ways to cook tasty dishes. Or you could simply chow down on the best clam chowder you have ever had.
