Honeymoon from heaven! - posted on 05/13/2007

When my wife and I tied the knot, we stayed at this hotel. Not only was it beautiful, lovely decorated rooms and beautiful views of Toronto, they were also very accomodating. I cannot possibly describe to you how many things there are for families and couples to do, just in this hotel in 100 words, but I will try- 2 swimming pools, cardio center, weight training area, children's center, game room with arcades and pool tables, 3 story high water slide... If you're staying in Toronto, you should stay at this hotel.

Great Toronto choice - posted on 05/04/2007

The Delta Chelsea was perfect for us in every way. The beds were superb, the room was very clean, the front desk service was quick and efficient, and their Market Garden cafeteria/restaurant gave good choices for breakfast/lunch. The location is excellent--near the subway downtown. We really enjoyed our stay there!

Find Another Hotel - posted on 03/11/2007

I'm not sure why it's a 4 star hotel. The heat in the room is either hot or stifling... only when it's off can you stand it, but then you are breathing your own fumes...speaking of which...cigarette smoke from other rooms filters in the vents...shower head is nasty...cafeteria style food is horid and expensive...the hotel has a third world feel to it. the jacuzzi on the 27th floor is tepid and filthy. what else can i say? find another hotel.

good here - posted on 03/06/2007

My first visit here, was more pleasurable than I thought. I have stayed at the Shearton before, and I thought this was just slightly a step down. However, the mere fact of standing outside on a balcony taking in downtown was quite appealing!

Depressing room - posted on 02/18/2007

Considering that this hotel embellishes the reputation of being a 3.5-4 star hotel you would think it would be somewhat luxurious. However, that wasn't the case. The rooms have a VERY gloomy and depressing feel. The comforters are old and the rooms are small. The bath tub was also stained. I would consider it to be a 2 star hotel.

the furnishing should have been thrown out long ago, the carpet was filthy and stained, the bathroom tiles were cracked and not sanitary, a total disappontment., especially for the price. Never again.

unsatisfactory - posted on 12/06/2006

the rooms are messy, they are old rooms, very small rooms, and do not care, they do not try to help you out at all, always say everything else is full, its not good for me.

Old and overpriced - posted on 10/06/2006

Used to stay here all the time, now, only if there's a great deal. The rooms are old, no free internet, the internet that they have is slow as dialup, bad AC, just kind of dumpy over all. These days, there's any number of hotels in TO which give much better at a lower price. Now I stay a block away at the Courtyard where everything's much newer, free internet in all the rooms, and the price is almost always much cheaper. I just don't see how the Delta justifies what it asks anymore. I still like the staff, the bars, and restaurants though. It's just the rooms that are seriously lacking.

awesome quick trip - posted on 09/11/2006

we booked this the day we left- was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, restraunts, activities shopping and staff helpfulness. The shopping location of 2 blocks to Eaton Centre was great wth the short walk filled wth shops along the way. Only downside was the room rate of 244 night wth all the gst/pst and out 2 dogs cost us an additional 70 bucks- but not bad for 4 hours notice- will definelty stay again!!!

Below Expectations - posted on 09/06/2006

Location is great, and overall atmosphere is nice. The room size was very small - not spacious at all. My biggest disappointment was the cheap non-soundproof doors - you could hear everything in the hall as if the people were right in your room, which wasn't conducive for sleeping. Pool & waterslide were fun for the kids, and Marketplace restaurant was convenient and fairly affordable. I also think hotel guests should get a better deal on onsite parking - $23 per day is too high.

This was a very nice accomodation I had in hotels. Restaurants in the property were amazing! Room Service a plus and friendly Staff a lot. For sure I will return other time I will be in Toronto. Extremely Recomended Experience. Don't forget to visit L'Comensal, a Vegetarian Food place in Elm St. half block from the hotel. Hummm...

First Visit to Toronto - posted on 08/15/2006

You have to give the staff an "A" here, even lifeguards at the slide and family pool, and business center staff helping book tickets for Wonderland Amusement Park. You can walk 1.5 blocks, take the Subway to York Mills, then a GO bus. Great Views of Lake O. Bad Part: DUST and HAIR from other guests like we'd never seen. Disgusting! Slow til' at the desk for in/out. The best exchange rates, no fee. So, overall it's above average, but not total luxury.

Could be better - posted on 08/11/2006

I have stayed at the Delta Chelsea many times while on business. The location is ideal. My last stay was not as nice. My room was really small and dirty. Mold was seen on the bathroom ceiling. Wallpaper in bathroom has many stains The room quality did not match the price charged.

Fun hotel - posted on 07/08/2006

I don't usually think of a hotel as fun, but this one was. It's in a lively location, and convenient, being close to the Eaton Center and subway stops. The waterslide in the pool was lots of fun, but the pool wasn't overly crowded. I loved the Marketplace cafe, where you can get light snacks or full meals even late in the evening.

Magic - posted on 05/21/2006

Stepping out of this hotel to the magic of yonge Street in downtown Toronto is priceless. Close to the Eaton Centre and the excitement of the city. If we had more money, we would be at the Four Seasons. This hotel gives you everything you pay for and more. For those who complain, it's because they are unhappy people.

Service and Staff were great. The room could use remodeling. Bathtub was rusty, which made it look dirty. The coffee maker did not work.

Great hotel!! - posted on 04/11/2006

When in Toronto, I always choose the Delta Chelsea without hesitation. The concierge usually go out of their way to help you find any information you need. I also love all of the hotel's amenities - especially the Marketplace, where we always get a quick and delicious breakfast in the morning and the Deck 27 lounge where we like to have martinis on the weekend (great view from the 27th floor!). There are also 2 pools - 1 with waterslide. I'll definitely continue to stay here on all of my trips to Toronto! (One more plus - it's really close to the Eaton Centre!)

Not Happy - posted on 01/09/2006

The Delta Chelsea isn't the same as it once was. Located down the street from the Eaton Center was the best part of this hotel. The room was small, hot, and not very clean. The staff was rude. And parking was a joke at $23/night! The lobby was nice, but that was about it. Even the breakfast was expensive and tasteless. I will never stay here again. I didn't feel safe walking outside at night.

comfortable - posted on 11/16/2005

The Delta Chelsea is not the swishest or most sophisticated hotel in downtown Toronto, but it is comfortable enough and kid friendly. An affordable food-court type eatery in the lobby has strikingly good prices and wonderful sushi!

Dirty, old, run down. For downtown Toronto and paying higher than web prices this hotel bites. The looby is ok but the rooms are gross. Supposedly there are rennovated rooms - be sure to request one.

Could be cleaner - posted on 09/21/2005

The bathroom faucet leaked/poured out the whole time. The water pressure in the shower would drop, and then off completely, while the hot water went out completely. A call to the front desk took care of the problem within 10 minutes, while I waited in a towel with wet/soapy hair. The bar was expensive, but it had a good DJ to dance to. The rooms are pretty small, but fit our needs well. We had

Kudos to Delta Chelsea Staff - posted on 09/15/2005

Most hotel rooms these days are the same (e.g. you always expect a nice, clean comfortable room). What sets a good hotel apart from its competition is the quality of service and the friendliness of their staff. The people at the Delta Chelsea are the friendliest I've ever met...quick with a smile and a warm 'hello" and always eager to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They accommodated my every whim and did so with great enthusiasm. I love that place!

3-diamond disappointment - posted on 08/17/2005

Our family was VERY disappointed. Waterslide is NOT a full 4-stories and pool/pool area are too small for the number of guests. Rooms were cramped, carpets soiled, bathroom smelled mildewy, parking and access is inconvenient. Junky part of town. Had to have bill adjusted when overcharged for parking. Nice cafeteria-style restaurant in hotel. Will not return and would not recomment!

Family Vacation - posted on 08/15/2005

Great location close to subway and Eaton's Centre. Kids enjoyed the water slide. Double beds were a little too small. I am use to hotels having Queen size beds. Cost of parking was exhorbitant at $22.00 a day.

Luxurious enough for me! - posted on 08/06/2005

The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The rooms were clean and everything you would expect from such a hotel. The location is great if you want to do a lot of mall-type shopping but not much for other things. The seperate adult pool is nice for avoiding the children. They do a good job of accomodating children for such a hotel. The food in the cafeteria could use major major improvements though. Variety was okay, service was slow, and the quality was pretty bad. Can't say for the other restaurants though.

nice place - posted on 08/04/2005

I will stay here again. This is a very nice place with an excellent staff, great location and nice restaurants in the hotel. The elevators that are dedicated to select floors makes getting to your floor a breeze. The second floor pool and waterslide along with game room is great for the kids, and the adult only pool/gym and roof top balcony are great for those traveling with out children. I wish every hotel was this nice.

Great Rooms, Poor Service - posted on 07/31/2005

Beautiful hotel, great location, wonderful room. However, our check-in time was 3:00p.m, after a 9 hour drive we weren't able to check in until 6:00 that evening. There were no apologies or accomodations made for us and we were greeted by a very unfriendly staff.

Not what we wanted - posted on 07/27/2005

Had advanced reservation for non-smoking room with King bed. Check in should be 4:00pm. Room was not available until 7:15pm. Room had queen bed and the balcony was permanantly locked. Other balconies were open throughout the hotel. Complained to front desk and received comp breakfast for 2 the following day. No king bed rooms were available. Had dinner at Bistro & Brasserie. Way overpriced! "Free" breakfast cost $7.50. Will never stay here again.

Great for first time solo visitors! - posted on 07/25/2005

Great location! Within walking distance of Art Gallery, Kensington Market, Eaton Center, Dundas Square. Fun bar inside hotel and quality dining very nearby. Bell captain and hskpng very nice and accomodating. Rooms are a little older, ie carpet and bed. Will definitely stay here again. It is very good for families and despite that and the large groups, it was very quiet and separate elevator banks made it faster to get an elevator.

Enjoyed My Stay - posted on 09/21/2004

I think the main reason for enjoying our experience so much is the prime location that the Delta Chelsea offers. We were a group interested in the night scene and it was easily accessed from this hotel. The room wasn't spectacular but did serve its purpose. No complaints at this end. I would stay there again. Thanks!

Jen Beaton at the front desk was amazing and made us feel totally comfortable. Are room was not ready when we arrived but she found us a different room quickly and gave us a complementary breakfast becasue we had to wait. Her patience with our questions showed that she cared about us. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone!
