Rooms were average, food was average, the wireless network was poor, the charges for telephone outrageous

I live in Toronto but was having work done on my place so I decided to run away for a weekend. I have heard lots about the Sutton and the stars that all stay there and I visited a friend there a year ago and she was very happy with the place. The room I was in was huge, an amazing new chiropractic bed (I slept like a baby), fluffy duvet and very nicely done bathroom. The staff were friendly and the only thing I was not really excited about was the restaurant - the food was awesome but the room was dull.

We stayed for 4 days and had pleasant interactions with staff every time. Did not use the concierge, but front desk was kind and helpful. Restaurant staff was impeccable, rooms were updated and comfortable, location was great, wish we could have stayed longer!

The front desk seemed put out that I wanted to check. The concierge told me that she could look up some box office numbers and give them to me if I wanted tickets -- was that not her job? No one seemed particularly interested in making my stay pleasant or comfortable.
This is luxury? - posted on 02/13/2005
Stayed a weekend in October in a very dated room with lumpy mattress and peeling wallpaper! The bathroom was impeccably clean...it sparkled! But sadly was on the small size. Bathrobes were old and stiff as a board...who wants to don one of these when they exit the shower??? We must have been on the "party floor" as there were noises coming from all the rooms. The guests next door to our room were lighting fireworks out of there window. When security was alerted, they patrolled the floor, but it continued...I wasn't even given an apology!
Avoid at all cost - posted on 04/08/2007
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The clerks at the front desk were rude and unfriendly. The room was old and dirty when we arrived and smelled of smoke (it was a non-smoking room). We had to call housekeeping each day to replace dirty glasses and restock toiletries. When we arrived we were told that parking was free, but a $25/day charge shows up at the end. Concierge was not helpful what-so-ever. I would never stay here again and recommend nobody else does either.

I was very disappointed with our stay at the Sutton Place and would not recommend it. The rooms were nothing to write home about and overall there was nothing special about it. I honestly find it hard to believe that "stars" frequent this hotel.

This is our third stay at the Sutton Place. The rooms are well maintained, the coincierge serveice very helpful as is the front desk. Everyon e on the staff is very pleasant. The location is perfect, near the subway in bad weather and walking distance in good weather to theatares, shops and restaurants. Garage clean and easy to get in and out of.
Too Hot at Night - posted on 08/15/2006
We were located on the 5th floor of this hotel. The air worked well during the day, and the lobby was always freezing. However, each night it would get very warm in the middle of the night even with the air turned way down.

My employee from Rio in Brazil was very impressed with The Sutton Place and we look forward to having many more employees stay there.

This is a nice hotel, it's definitely better than a 3 star but I've stayed at nicer 4 stars. Location is ok. Employees were nice and helpful. Room was good sized.
So disappointed - posted on 01/31/2005
We visited Sutton Place after staying there about 30 yrs ago. What a disappointment! We arrived late - nidnight and there was no valet parking, no doorman, no bellhop and the gal at the desk was hiding behind a door. She came out and was not very helpful. We ended up takiing car of our own car and luggage. While the rooms were large, they were dated. Our view was of a rooftop of air conditioners. The breakfast room was freezing - where was the heat? Thought this was supposed to be a first class hotel.
