This 31-room motel is no longer a Thriftlodge, simply the Kingston West Motel. The motel is on the west side of town and its sister property, the Kingston East is, as its name suggests, on the east of Kingston. The property provides basic accommodation for the tourist visiting Kingston, a city that welcomes over a million tourists a year and is noted for its good cuisine, nightlife and shopping. Items included with the room rate are parking, high speed Internet access, a newspaper and local phone calls. The pet-friendly property is five minutes from downtown, Queen’s University and the St. Lawrence College.

Like its sister property, the Kingston East Motel, this budget property gets nothing but bad reviews about out-dated accommodation and unhelpful staff from those who have stayed here. The rooms have now been renovated so hopefully those comments will cease and the 50-50 rating which change to a yes recommendation. All the rooms are air conditioned and come one queen size bed. Amenities include a kitchenette, free high speed Internet access, IDD telephone, alarm clock radio and cable television. Non-smoking rooms are available.

There is no restaurant on-site but there are numerous places to eat nearby. The property has ample parking space for cars, trucks and RVS. The reception desk has information on nearby attractions which include Fort Henry, the Rideau Canal, Bellevue House, the Confederation Tour Train, Hockey Hall of Fame and the Royal Military College which is a 10-minute drive away. The motel does offer fax and copying services.
