Kingston Hotel Guide Cheap Kingston Hotels

Kingston

Kingston is a city where history has been meticulously preserved and nature is celebrated. There are many beautiful neighborhoods, amazing water activities and great sites worth exploring.

The famous Martello towers are known around the world and can be found all over the globe. Kingston has an impressive collection of six Martello towers, each carefully preserved for you to learn a bit of history. A few worth mentioning include the Murney and Point Frederick Towers, which house museums that are open during the summer months and Shoal Tower, unique because it is completely surrounded by water. Make your way to Sydenham Ward if you are interested in historical buildings. This famous neighborhood is packed with beautiful sites, including the impressive McIntosh Castle.

Considering it sits along beautiful Lake Ontario it should come as no surprise that Kingston offers many activities related to water. The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes is a fantastic place to learn all about boats and the important role the lakes played in Canada’s development. Prefer a more hands on approach? Kingston is well known for its sailing and hosts many great tournaments. This area is also famous for its deep-water diving. There is an impressive collection of shipwrecks that have been protected because of the lack of salt in the water. There are also hundreds of islands off of the main shore, which you can visit by ferry. Of course with all of this water you just know that the dining in Kingston is going to be fantastic, especially if you are a seafood fanatic. Perhaps you prefer to stay on dry land. There are many beautiful walkways and parks for you to explore. For a more unique ‘sightseeing’ tour Kingston offers great outlet malls and boutiques.

Kingston

Kingston is also known for its lively arts community, partly due to the high student population. Hockey plays an important role here and watching a game is a completely Canadian experience. Perhaps it comes as no surprise then that legendary hockey commentator Don Cherry hails from Kingston. Perhaps you enjoy the finer things in life. Kingston has many wonderful galleries but one worth mentioning is the Agnes Etherington Art Centre. There are also a great number of festivals held throughout the year including its Jazz Festival, Chilifest, Festival of Trees and the Busker’s Rendezvous, just to name a few.

This beautiful city found along the shores of Lake Ontario is filled with wonderful activities for you to enjoy, although deciding what you can all squeeze in might prove to be quite difficult.
