There are also hundreds of miles of trails ideal for hikers and bikers. You will enjoy wandering throughout this entire city, whether you stay on the paved routes or create your own path.
Hamilton offers you great places to do some exploring. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is ideal for those who love the skies. You can see unique aircrafts and memorabilia or take a spin in a flight simulator. The Canadian Football Hall of Fame is located in downtown Hamilton and is a great place to learn more about those who have made an impact on this popular sport.
Make your way to the Whitehern Historic Home and Garden if you like history and gardening. Much care has been put into preserving this home, making it a popular place to visit. Dundurn Castle provides you with a fantastic look at what life was like during the 19th century. The grounds that surround this impressive building also house the Hamilton Military Museum. It displays Canadas military history from the War of 1812 to World War I. Even if you are not an avid gardener or have no idea what a chrysanthemum is, the Royal Botanical Gardens are a treat for anyone who walks through its gates. Spreading close to 3,000 acres you can walk along the trails, visit the stunning Rose Garden and Rock Garden or enjoy a bite to eat at one of the restaurants and cafes. The RBG also hosts numerous festivals throughout the year so keep your eyes open for the events happening during your visit. Another great place to enjoy the outdoors is the Sam Lawrence Park, which provides fantastic views of the harbour below.
The above mentioned parks are beautiful but they lack one thing adventure. Hamilton is home to the amazing African Lion Safari. This wildlife park allows you to catch a glimpse of what life is like for these exotic creatures. Home to over 1,000 animals and birds you will definitely need to pack a lot of film or bring a good memory card. There are live animal shows, including the spectacular elephant bathing event. The African Queen lets you cruise along the waters or you could climb aboard the train. However you tour the area you will have a hard time remembering that you are still in North America.
