Fredericton

Located along the banks of the St. John River, Fredericton provides you with plenty of walkways for you to explore all that this city has to offer. Whether you enjoy a leisurely boat cruise, explore the historic neighborhoods or visit the galleries and sites Fredericton will keep you busy.

As the capital of New Brunswick, Fredericton houses the impressive Legislative Assembly building. Two of the more unique traits it has include a beautiful staircase and copper engravings by artist John James Audubon. Fredericton has an impressive collection of churches but one that definitely stands out is the Christ Church Cathedral. Built back in 1853, its gothic architecture draws hundreds of visitors every year.

King’s Landing Historical Settlement gives you a glimpse of what life was like for the 18th century pioneers who first settled here. Spreading over 300 acres you can enjoy the reenactments, tour the school, church and homes or enjoy shopping for unique gifts. The Old Government House is another wonderful place to see how history has been carefully preserved. As the official residence of the New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor, you can view the antiques, art gallery and an interpretation centre that tells of the province’s past. Moving ahead one century, Marysville is a preserved 19th century Mill Town. Enjoy a self-guided tour and learn about how the cotton industry helped New Brunswick’s economy.

Fredericton

Historic Garrison District, located in downtown Fredericton, is the place to experience the thriving arts community. It is a place where cafés, craft shops, outdoor theatre performances, festivals and beautiful buildings abound. Art enthusiasts will truly enjoy the wonderful galleries located throughout the city. A few worth mentioning include the fantastic Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Gallery 78. The riverfront walkway offers you miles of paths and stunning views of the city. Waterloo Row provides you with a different type of scenic view. It is the place to see impressive mansions, all of which have been immaculately kept.

Fredericton is close to Mactaquac Provincial Park, the Village of Gagetown and the Town of Oromocto. Mactaquac Provincial Park is packed full of outdoor adventures with the stunning golf course as one of its highlights.
