We find that the Thriftlodge Hotel in Winnipeg is a great place to stay. Most of the places we visit are located in the centre of the city, or in the west end. We can move around fairly effortlessly at any time during the day or night. The food is excellent! The service is excellent! There are no problems if we need extra pillows or sheets. The staff are most accommodating. We have visited this hotel a number of times over the last few years, and have come to think of the hotel as our "home away from home."
A Cold Nite in Canada - posted on 11/02/2005
It was very cold in my room. There was no thermostat in the room that I could use to turn up the heat. People were yelling and screaming in the hall outside my room late at night. It was difficult to get to sleep. The hot water was just the right temp for a shower. It did not get any hotter. Hotel is more than 1 mile from airport.

We had a great time. We were close to all of the places of interest/business to us. Our supper was just what we wanted - small, tasty, home-cooked, and reasonably priced. Accommodation was great - exactly as stated. Thanks

I was not impressed with our stay at this location. The staff didn't seem to knowledgeable about our online reservations. They seemed easily confused and didn't get it right when I told them not to bill me twice. I was glad to see that the situation seems rectified after I talked to one of the online customer service reps. She was excellent and helpful. The room was adequate and clean the man who delivered the fridge and microwave was very pleasant and helpful to us. My son and daughter in law also ran into problems concerning their rooms and were not impressed either. I hope that this was simply a bad week. Thanks Fred Noland
