Discovered by Icelandic explorers, Gimli is a quaint town located along the beautiful shores of Lake Winnipeg. The impressive Viking Statue continues to stand today as a symbol of the explorers who called it home. It should come as no surprise that Gimli continues to have a large Icelandic population and hosts the annual Icelandic Festival every summer. People flock to this place to enjoy all the amazing events held, which include the Gimli Film Festival, live music, a great sandcastle contest, concerts and delicious food. Gimli is also the location for brewing the legendary Crown Royal Canadian Whisky, a favorite bevy for both locals and tourists.
