Great Place - posted on 04/11/2007

We got there, checked in. We had requested 2 non smoking rooms. When we went to our rooms, they reaked of smoke. We went back down to the desk and they immediately changed our rooms. It was great. They checked on us 3 times to make sure everything was ok. All the staff were very friendly and outgoing. They loved our dog. The only thing I was disappointed in was that they did not have a jacuzzi.

Family Getaway - posted on 11/16/2006

We have 2 children aged 4 and 8. It was great to be at the Holiday Inn where kids eat free in the restaurant. The pool was nice although lacking a hot tub/spa and the shallow area for smaller kids was very limited. The Saunas were in a separate area and not turned on so you needed to wait. Service from the restaurant and front desk was excellent. Parking fee was extra

too loud - posted on 10/29/2006

The location is good but it's much too loud here. The room faced the street and the street was quite loud and the window did not muffle the sounds at all. It was especially bad on the weekend (it being Halloween did not help) but even during the week it was loud. Also, could hear the neighbors entirely too well, including their more private moments. Good location with respect to Robson street and so forth but question whether it was worth it. I was expecting more from a name brand hotel like this.

Vancouver Visit with a toddler - posted on 08/06/2006

Overall the hotel was nice. However, the bathroom in our room really needed some fixing up- the ceiling had some damage and the grout around the tiles showed some mildew. The indoor pool was disappointingly cold!! Not good with a toddler!!!

Loved Vancouver the holiday inn on Howe St. is with in walking distance of just about all downtown activities just a block from Granville, 3 blocks from robson and two from davey's. Great staff and a prime local.

no car needed - posted on 06/27/2006

In the three days we were in Vancouver, we were able to get around easier with no car, than when I had done the same trip before with a car. I arrived with a group on Amtrak, caught the Sky Train the two stops to Granville station, then walked the handful of blocks to our hotel. From there we went to Metropolis at Metrotown, Granville Island, Vancouver Art Gallery, Chinatown and Scienceworld, Robson Street-all by either Seabus, Skytrain or walking. I recommend the All Day pass on the Skytrain at $8 if you go to the Metropolis mall.

Renovation or demolition? - posted on 03/28/2006

Lobby was a wreck. Dust, torn up floors/ceilings, tattered carpets;. A depressing atmosphere.Room on 10th floor overlooked a delapated wreck of a tenement likely moved from Tijuana MX. Bags filled with garbage were strewn atop the roof, glassy-eyed thugs in black leather periodically staggered out the back doors and disappeared into the alley.

Nice, but small. - posted on 09/04/2005

Rooms small, beds even smaller. Pool small but nice! Needs hot tub! Parking difficult for SUV. Fruit and service @ Meledy's excellent! No charge for roll away twin bed. Need better A/C system. Very nice patio upstairs. Kid friendly hotel!

Disappointing - posted on 08/13/2005

Read nice reviews about this hotel and saw nice pictures. In reality, the room was small, dark, and in need of a remodel and cleaning. Upon opening the drapes, we were met with a view of a rundown apartment building with a rather unflattering view of everyone inside. We checked out the next morning and finished our vacation at the BW up the street.

Nice hotel and clean rooms. Good location to downtown shopping and restaurants. Easy to get to from the airport. Great city!

good for basics - posted on 08/05/2005

For the price, this was a good hotel. The staff was accomodating when we asked to switch rooms, as our room was beside the elevator. Staff also willing to let us stay a few hours past check out time. Small pool, no hot tub. Excellent location to walk to everything! Nice upper patio to sit out on. I'd stay there again.

preassure wash the garage! - posted on 06/28/2005

I needed to have a secure parking garage, so I liked that feature about Holiday Inn, just not the filth build up. The Bus. District location was quieter than by Robson(nightclub noise). I also liked being near the "Elbow" Restuarant.
