Richmond is a fantastic place to explore if you like to learn about history and enjoy great festivals. Located about a half hour from downtown Vancouver it is also close to the many fantastic attractions BC has to offer.
Considering most of Richmond is made up of islands, it should come as no surprise that it has a rich history in fishing and shipbuilding. The Britannia Heritage Shipyard is an absolute must. You will get a first hand look how both of these industries helped put it on the map. Although some of the buildings and canneries are not open to the public the restored areas are a wonderful place to go exploring.

Surrounded by water, Richmond is also a wonderful place to go fishing, boating and sailing. There are amazing trails, ideal for both cyclists and joggers, to help you work off all the amazing meals you will be feasting on. Richmond also has its fair share of pristine golf courses. There are also many fantastic seafood restaurants providing you with some of the best dining BC has to offer. All Canadians love to celebrate Canada Day but Richmond’s Salmon Festival is definitely one worth experiencing. Enjoy the parade, carnival and the amazing barbecued salmon all day long as you wave the red and white flags.
Richmond is a wonderful place to enjoy the parks, delicious cuisine and its great outdoors.
