Anyone who is looking for a non-commercial hotel that is out of the way of the "action" in Banff will definitely enjoy the Deer Lodge. Its lack of telephones and televisions provides a perfect rustic escape for anyone who wants to get away from it all. However, families who like to travel with lots of luggage complained about the small rooms. Families with "television addicted" children were also not pleased. People who wanted to be close to the nightlife were not happy with the location. The bottom line: It's the perfect hotel for a specific type of traveler. Read our customer reviews?

Deer Lodge Accommodations

Historic charm marries modern amenities at the Deer Lodge. In fact, some of the original rooms have been restored by the Banff Historical Society. These rooms have original cast iron radiators, woodwork, lighting and brass fixtures. You should note that the rooms do not have telephones or televisions.

Amenities offered

Deer Lodge is famous for having some of the best dining facilities in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The food served is reminiscent of the Victorian cooking style that was popular on the elegant dining cars of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. The Deer Lodge was also the proud recipient of the Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence from 1996 through 2004. Aside from the food, guests enjoy the state of the art rooftop hot tub.

Take the Only exit into Lake Louise. Make a left coming off the Exit onto Lake Louise Drive. Follow the road 4km’s all the way to the top of the hill, heading toward the Lake itself. Deer Lodge is the last lodge on the right before reaching Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Beautiful Lake Louise.
