Truly magnificent winter wonderland - posted on 01/22/2006
Staying at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was the highlight of our Canadian Rockies holiday. Every minute of our stay was magical. Highly recommend the winter drive along Bow Valley Parkway between the Fairmont Banff and the Fairmont Lake Louise -breathtaking scenery. We spent our last days of 2005 skiing at Lake Louise - the perfect way to end the year. Other activities were plentiful for our family at the Chateau. Skate, sleigh ride or snow shoe across on the lake - we did it all! The staff was fabulous, the rooms were lovely, the dining experiences alway enjoyable. This is a place not to be missed.

On our Canadian Rockies Tour, this hotel stood out as the best!! The view of Lake Louise from our room was breathtaking!! Although there was some construction going on, it did not take away from the all-inclusiveness of this resort. Great for a Honeymoon!

Beautiful hotel and scenery with outdoor attractions for everyone from the disabled to the marathoners. If you stay here, be gone during the middle of the day when the tourist buses roll up. Also, I would only recommend staying her if you can do so on the Gold Floor (concierge level) - the few other staff that I encountered left a lot to be desired. Only the Hilton Hotels Enclave has beaten the Fairmont Gold Floor rooms and service yet!

The Lake and Lobby are beautiful, the rest leaves a lot to be desired. We were given the wrong room, horribly rude customer service, and had things like spa reservations cancelled on us at the last minute. Visit the lake, but steer clear of this hotel.

The rooms are definitely overpriced and the hotel is huge, it seems totally out of character in design and size for a national park setting. The architecture is uninspired; and except for a few kitschy Swiss decorative touches, the chateau is typical of a nondescript business class hotel in a large city. The food is moderately good, but doesn't compare to the fare at the Post Hotel. The location is truly spectacular, but the hotel is an oversized mistake.
My favourite Fairmont Hotel - posted on 11/19/2006
Splash out on a lake view room - save up - you wont regret it. The view is magnificent - especially early morning. If you cant afford it - stay in the nearby village and visit for the facilities. I return nearly every year and build my holiday around my days at the hotel. Never had a less than wonderful visit - friendly helpful staff, very comfortable, modern, spacious and well equipped rooms. A central base for many Banff Park attractions.
good and bad - posted on 09/10/2006
This is a beautiful hotel, but very expensive...The original room we got was large but very noisy from the outside as well as our neighbor. They switched us to a smaller, quieter room. It really is a beautiful hotel, but I'm not sure it's worth the money--the fairmont in jasper was a better value. Definitely have dinner here, even if you don't stay here.
