Excellent! - posted on 05/05/2007
I have stayed at the DFR many times, both when I was a youth with my parents, with my then-boyfriend and my now-fiancee. We have been pleased both times we stayed and plan to marry in Banff and stay at the DFR while there. Staff was caring, clean and friendly.
Nice Playground But That Is It - posted on 12/17/2006
Booked because of the indoor playground which was impressive but the hotel should have spent their money on better cleaning training and some customer service seminars. Room was disgusting, staff seemed not to care. We left and check in across the street at Tunnel Mountain where they seemed to appreciate our business. Stay Away From DFR

Pleasant Stay - posted on 05/30/2006
I added a day trip to the Canadian Rockies to a recent business trip to Calgary. I was pleasantly surprised by the Douglas Fir Resort. The room was very nice and in a very beautiful setting. There were deer enjoying an early morning breakfast right outside of my room. My only complaint was about the air conditioning....there was a room unit, but it did not work well...the room became stuffy during the night....there was no was to securely open a door to get fresh air in the room. It was a minor incovenience.
Good Value/Rustic - posted on 05/28/2006
Rustic feel, kitchenette and free firewood. Good space in the studio. All at a reasonable price. You do need a car to get to downtown (5 min drive). Also free Internet!! We are going back again. Not 5 stars cause underground parking space is very tight. But I suppose in the winter time, its a good thing to have.

After sampling the resort across the street, we decided to try Douglas Fir. The kids loved the water slides, my partner loved the giant whirlpool and steam room.

My Family and I stayed at Douglas Fir earlier this fall. Our condo was a "home away from home". The kitchen was fab! Giant living room as well. The kids loved the waterslides!

a romantic retreat - posted on 06/21/2005
If you are looking for a romantic spot-this is the place. Ask for a chalet, away from the families in the resort area. Full kitchen, fire place, and separate bedroom. Banff is a cute town too.
My Family loved it! - posted on 01/12/2005
This place is excellent for families, the spacious condos, huge waterslides and wood burning fireplaces created a wonderful atmosphere for my family and I.
GREAT FOR KIDS - posted on 11/02/2004
We have stayed here three times. Each time we are very satisfied. The rooms are clean, have that rustic feel to them. The kids love the waterslide and the pool. I would recommend this hotel fully.
