Amazing Castle! - posted on 02/17/2006

Very nice place. Great outdoor heated pool. Only problem was the red minibar didn't match classical style.

Fairmont Banff Springs - posted on 11/20/2005

All in all this was a great weekend. The hotel is majestic and the service impeccable, although our bedding and the bed itself was quite uncomfortable. The king-sized bed that we had reserved was actually two twin beds pucsked together. Of course these two beds didn't actually stay together creating a semi-Grand Canyon between my partner and I.

A wonderful stay - posted on 01/22/2006

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs. As a family of four holidaying over Christmas, we found plenty to do and see. Just exploring the magnificent Fairmont Castle and grounds can take you a day!

Fantastic Castle - posted on 03/26/2005

The Banff Springs is a one of a kind hotel. Management has done an excellent job of taking a 100 year old castle and installing modern amenities. Finding your way around can be an adventure in itself. However, the age and design of the hotel does limit the size of the rooms. The (no tipping) service is extremely helpful and friendly. The outdoor (4 season) heated mineral pool can't be beat. Although the price strains my budget (parking alone is $26 per day), I am looking forward to going back again for my 5th stay.

Stunning! - posted on 03/08/2007

Yes, Banff Springs is expensive, reassuringly so some may say! Rooms are not the best in the world but certainly not bad, very clean but this is the snowcapped Rockies at their very best. Simply stunning views everywhere amidst a truly unique hotel that should be on everyone's list to stay at some time in their life. Service slow at times but majority of staff were wonderful and proud of their surroundings. We will return!

Amazing Hotel - posted on 01/30/2007

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel lived up to our expectations in every way. It was our first trip. The hotel is majestic, clean, service was excellent and the views....INCREDIBLE! The breakfast buffet at Bow Valley Grill, dinner at Grapes was excellent as were our four meals at the Waldhaus German restaurant. Our favorite! Food is a bit pricey as are drinks at the hotel. There are a number of excellent places to eat in Banff either walking into town or taking the short bus ride (2$ pp) into town from the hotel. This was a dream winter vacation spot. Can't wait to return next year.

Disappointed - posted on 01/05/2007

Calgary is experiencing a boom. So, hotels like this one, which previously offered good service, have lowered their standards. If you go to Banff, stay elsewhere. And go during the off season. Banff & Lake Louise have become overrun with tourists and are very "Disneyland".

1930 - posted on 01/03/2007

Everything was very nice, but the living room part of our 2 bedroom suite was horrible. Fake fireplace, old wooden bar, and the walls and carpet looked un-toushed since 1930! Very dissapointing for $800+/ night!

Lovely to look at, not so delightful to stay! - posted on 11/28/2006

I believe there was one other viewer who mentioned how very expensive all the details are. I heard they had suites that were better than the rooms, but so much more expensive it would not be worth it for me. Food very, very expensive. Service was so-so. Local adventures were fun and the area is just beautiful. Next time we will stay in a smaller hotel in Banff, though.

Heavenly Experience - posted on 08/27/2006

I was at the spa today. It was absolutely divine! The services are worth every penny and the facilities are luxurious. The Kur bath is wonderful.

Classy - posted on 07/16/2006

My husband and I stayed at the Bnuff Springs Hotel 10 years and absolutely loved it. This year our two daughters, ages 24 and 21, joined us. They were taken aback by the hotel, the great service, the spa, the restaurants and of course, the view. It was a memorable family vacation.

I never write reviews, but this hotel has fallen far off its high horse and unfortunately hits its customers hard in the pocket book. The pictures lie. The room furnishings were dated, the smell was musty, the food was poor and the service lacked. Unless you're filthy rich, nostalgic or don't care about your money...keep searching.
