Cairns Hotel Guide Cheap Cairns Hotels

Founded back in 1876 as a pathway to gold, Cairns has since become an ideal vacation hot spot with its rainforests, beaches and lots of great sites to see. Exploring the nature, surfing the waves, seeing the Great Barrier Reef and strolling along the boardwalk all help make Cairns a wonderful place to visit.

Enjoy seeing exotic plants, palms and flowers as you make your way to Flecker Botanic Gardens. As the only wet tropics garden in Australia, your senses will be treated to an amazing array of foliage. The Centenary Lakes and Mount Whitfield Conservation Park are nearby as well. When you’re finished exploring the beauty that surrounds you, make your way to the café where tea can be served with treats. How much more civilized can one get?

If you want to get a bird’s eye view of Cairns, head over to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Stretching over 7.5kms above tropical rainforests and the Coral Sea, you’ll see Cairns at a whole new level. Enjoy the panoramic view as you soar above. Get off at one of the two mid-stations, Red Peak and Barron Falls, and see the beauty up close. But maybe you’re not a fan of heights. Have no fear, the Kuranda Scenic Railway is near. Give yourself enough time to get on board and enjoy the scenes that surround you as you ride through rugged mountain ranges, over raging rivers and beside rainforests. See waterfalls, wildlife and end it all with a great meal at a rest stop. Whether it’s gliding through the sky or chugging along on the train, you’ll absolutely love what you see.

The aboriginal village called Tjapukai provides its guests with a fantastic display of Native cultures. Artists tell stories about the past and those that attend leave with a greater understanding about the history presented here. You’ll even be able to learn how to throw a boomerang and spear. And if you really get the hang of it, you can buy a few handmade ones.

Just off of the Queensland’s coast lies the Great Barrier Reef. It stretches more than 1,240 miles making it the largest coral reef and living structure on earth. In fact, you can see it from space. Only an hour and a half away from Cairns by boat, you’ll be able to see it up close and be amazed at the life and beauty that surrounds it. Only 15 minutes away sits the spectacular Green Island. Whether you spend an hour or the entire day here, you’ll love every minute of it. There’s a fantastic underwater observatory, a great restaurant and museum here as well for you to explore. On the other side sits Fitzroy Island, about a 45-minute ferry ride away. It’s another great island that showcases Australia’s beauty.

The beautiful Esplanade provides you with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the best of Cairns. The area is packed with trendy cafés, grassy picnic areas, playgrounds for the kids, beautiful shops and fantastic restaurants. Whether you come for a swim, enjoy the food or simply go for a stroll and see the sites, the Esplanade is a great place to spend a day and the place to go for a night out on the town.

Come for the scenery, come for the food, and come for the people. Cairns is simply just the best place to come.
