Port Columbus International Airport is a public airport located 6 miles (10 km) east of downtown Columbus, Ohio. The airport opened July 8, 1929 on a site originally selected by Charles Lindbergh. Port Columbus is known for displaying a large amount of community artwork. Port Columbus International Airport was formerly a hub of America West Airlines, but the company closed the hub in 2003. America West Airlines served Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Fort Myers, and Washington-Reagan National. America West Express operated by Chautauqua Airlines flew to Baltimore, Philadelphia, Newark, New York-LaGuardia, Hartford, Boston, Toronto, Chicago-Midway, Chicago-O'Hare, Atlanta, and Dallas/Fort Worth.
