The Zilker Park Kite Festival is a great day out with thousands of people flying kites of all shapes and sizes. There is a kite workshop in the park, so that kids of all ages who wish to fly a kite can build their own there and then. The festival includes stunt kite demonstrations and kite buggy demos. Then there's the chance to take part in several contests with categories including: highest kite, steadiest kite, strongest pulling kite, smallest kite, most unusual kite and largest kite. Finally, there is the spectacle of the mass ascent, when everyone is invited to get their kites up into the sky
