Venue: Fifth Avenue. Between 44th and 79th Street
The Columbus Day Parade has been a tradition in New York since 1929 and takes place every year on the first Monday of October. The parade celebrates the friendship between Italy and the USA, as well as the mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries. Each year political leaders, along with Broadway performers, champion high schools and college bands, international folkloric groups and Italian delegations from various regions come together and contribute to the parade with colourful costumes, music and floats marching along Fifth Avenue. It is a very patriotic event and is broadcasted live by WNBC in the states and on RAI International in Italy
