A festival atmosphere pervades the Faneuil Hall Marketplace where jugglers, clowns, magicians, mime artists and musicians mill amongst the crowds. Quincy Market opened in 1826 and served as Boston's main food distribution centre for the next 125 years. But it fell into disrepair and by the early 1950s it had been earmarked for demolition; but funding was found and it was eventually restored and reopened in 1976 and is now a thriving entertainment and shopping area with numerous restaurants and bars
